Pakistan has developed a countermeasure to cross‑border suicide drones: the Sufra drone jamming gun, which officials say can disable kamikaze drones and their controllers at 1.5 kilometres.

That is the dilemma of legitimacy - he still has to move the COAS title on otherwise dissent will start piling up in CCs. Or he has to remove all potential rivals , install complete sycophants regardless of competency. But then dont expect anything less than IQaF. IQ Army performance in GW.1.

I guess we have officially said Bismillah to this journey.

Today is the برسى (death anniversary) of famous urdu poet Jaun Elia. جون ايليا

I think this verse from his poetry most aptly describes the actions of our dearest "field marshal" and our dearest "khadim-e-azam".

میں بھی بہت عجیب ہوں اتنا عجیب ہوں کہ بس

خود کو تباہ کر لیا اور ملال بھی نہیں

😢

Ceremonial CJSC post abolished. Replaced by CDS

About time. CJSC Post was an empty uniform role, 4 Star rank second prize for the 3 Star who come second in race for COAS.

Hopefully we have a true CDS like the British and Americans, who has power to make real decisions and also on procurement like joint medium/light choppers, joint longe range SAMs etc

The Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) oath is a pledge taken by cadets to serve Pakistan with loyalty, upholding the constitution and law, and serving in the armed forces with honesty, integrity, and faithfulness. It includes a commitment to abstain from political activities and to perform duties to the best of their ability in the interest of the nation's sovereignty, integrity, and well-being. Cadets from various courses, including the Lady Cadet Course, take this oath during passing out or special ceremonies like the Joint Military Training (JMT) course.

Key components of the oath
  • Loyalty and service: To serve Pakistan with honesty and faithfulness in the army, navy, or air force.
  • Constitutional adherence: To uphold the Constitution and the law.
  • National interest: To act in the interest of the country's sovereignty, integrity, solidarity, well-being, and prosperity.
  • Political neutrality: To not engage in political activities.

Occasions for the oath
  • Passing out ceremonies: Cadets take the oath upon completing their training at PMA.
  • Special ceremonies: The oath is also administered during special events, such as the inaugural Joint Military Training (JMT) course, which includes cadets from the Army, Navy, and Air Force.

Pakistan govt set to introduce most sweeping changes in structure of military — through 27th Amendment.

— Field Marshall shall retain the rank, privileges and remain in uniform for life time and will have legal immunity.

— Field Marshall will not be removed, unless impeached like President via two-third majority in the parliament.

- New post of Chief of Defence Forces or Commander of Defence Forces to be introduced in 27th amendment.

- Army Chief will also serve as CDF.

— Commander of Defence Forces will oversee Army, Navy & Air Force under the single unified command.

Are there any former Army insiders here? What is the culture on the inside at the higher officer levels?
What are their thoughts on historic Army blunders such as 1971, Afghan-Mujaheddin support and blowback, Taliban support & Strategic Depth, blowback from use of non-state actors?

Is there a culture of self-reflection and correction?
Is there a recognition that mistakes have been made?
Are they arrogant?
Are there any officers that believe in primacy of civilian mandate?

I suspect this thread will be blown away by the moderators but I think its fair to ask if our military is self-correcting or stuck in groupthink which is detrimental in our strategic ability to protect Pakistan.

Well, we have our answer to this dilemma. The 27th amendment sailed through the National Assembly.

I'm fascinated that you saw this coming.
