First indigenous submarine and you expect to have it finished and delivered in less than 5 years?

South Korea started the construction of its Dosan Ahn Chang-ho class submarine its first indigenous submarine in 2016, and delivered it in 2021. Why would 5 years not be enough for construction?

That's 7 years man. MMM-E implies it will be delivered to the Turkish Navy in 4 years. Not just finished, but also tested and delivered. Ready for service in 4 years. Sounds a bit weird.

Sorry not 2014, but 2016, my mistake.

First boat's keel was laid in 17 May 2016, commissioned 13 August 2021.

2021-2016 = 5

It matters when you have MMM-E shouting with an orgasmic voice "Oooohhh indigenous Millet Submarine only Turkiye in the region" 😂

It is indigenous. lol built in Turkey independently after acquiring knowledge building 214s and Turkey's own R&D. This is the same as what South Korea did.

They finished a submarine in 5 years? What are they putting in that kimchi, steroids?

My guess is that b/c its a new design, its been optimized for ease of production compared to stuff designed 25-30+ years ago like the 212/214. They learned from the stuff that took longer with the 214 and made it easier. It is very impressive.

The Japanese as well. Very short turnaround.

Germans as well, they build the newer 218 very fast and the submarine for Israel they are building, the Delivery date in 2031, and it only started building late 2024/early 2025.

Seems shipyards with higher volume and newer designs have an easier time if I had to guess.

Not only MILDEN class AIP Submarine , but also TF-2000 class Destroyer and 285 m MUGEM Aircraft Carrier will be delivered to the Turkish Navy in 2030

and as of 2030 the delivery does not mean reaching full operational capability .... MUGEM Aircraft Carrier also planned to be delivered in 2030 but MUGEM will reach full operational capability in a few years too after delivering

5 years enough to produce and to deliver them to the Turkish Navy
As threats increase, military projects accelerate

-------------------------------

MILDEN class Submarine is indigenous including design

-- the national sonar
-- the national torpedo AKYA
-- the national anti-ship Missile AKATA
-- the national land attack Cruise Missile GEZGIN
-- HIZIR Torpedo Countermeasure System ( soft kill )
-- TORK Torpedo Countermeasure System ( hard-kill )
-- the national Atmosphere Independent Power (AIP) system
-- ARES-2N ESM system
-- integrated communications system
-- X-band satellite communication system
-- MILSOFT software for the Link-11/22 communication system
-- HAVELSAN Sonar integration and Control system
-- TorAKS system (Torpedo fire control system, which is part of the SEDA system)
-- The torpedo countermeasures Sea Crypsis system
-- TUBITAK-MAM is set to develop the hydrophones
-- TUBITAK the vessel’s battery control system and the life support system
-- etc
-- etc

80 m MILDEN Submarine design is not based on 65 m Type214

Type214 class Submarine doesnt have VLS
but It is estimated that MİLDEN will be the first Submarine with a 'Vertical Launch System in the Turkish Navy's inventory

Turkiye has its own agenda and all Turkish military projects progress very well

even Turkiye has started a new multi purpose Frigate program ( 120-130 m / 4.000-5000 tons ) called TF-2000 Flight II to replace OHP class Frigates

Turkiye joins an elite group with MILDEN and NUKDEN

With MİLDEN, Türkiye gains full control over every critical subsystem—from hull design and propulsion to sonar, weapon integration and fire control.
The inclusion of MİDLAS VLS in this architecture underscores the maturity of Türkiye’s domestic engineering and defense manufacturing capabilities

Long-term strategic ambitions of the Turkish Navy include the development of nuclear-powered Submarine, a capability currently limited to only 6 Countries: USA , Russia, China, France, The UK and India

I think Turkey should start to seriously consider now solid state lithium ion batteries

the Japanese will soon field those submarines and they will be able to maintain 20knots submerged for weeks and someone said up to 40 days

that is closing the gap on nuclear submarines at a fraction of the cost and size without the issue of nuclear fuel

Fuel Cells based AIP is still king in energy density. But Batteries present an interesting alternative.

New Subs now finally have Class names.

Commander of the Naval Forces, Admiral Ercüment Tatlıoğlu:

We will take a significant step towards the construction of nuclear-powered Submarines, which are necessary for our long-term Submarine deterrence capability and our vision of becoming a medium-sized power with global influence.

Turkiye plans to build and export MİLDEN Submarines and to construct a nuclear-powered Submarine
