JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

There is nothing special in the report. Even @Deino knows more than they have written in the report. i fast skim it nothing was special in it and was also very out dated
YES. We completely agree with your point of view.

However, some people will still take this report out of context, selectively quoting parts of it and then drawing far-fetched conclusions.

so we are still negotiating with iraq

The report of 36 J10CE for Pakistan must be wrong purely based on the timelines of the delivery of the first 20, ie why would the last 16 take "soo" long to deliver, if there was an order placed for them ?

20 was all that PAF ordered, and those units were delivered. The news of the "2nd" order is incorrect, we have not seen any pictures of any building or testing of the claimed 16 additional units.

Douglas Barrie, Senior Fellow for Military Aerospace at the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), wrote in an analysis in January 2024: "The Block III replaces the JF-17’s mechanically scanned radar with an active electronically scanned array (AESA) to improve targeting capabilities...The PAF is also adopting a twin-rack-launcher option for the J-10C and JF-17 Block III to increase the number of active radar-guided AAMs each aircraft can carry. Increasing the number of missiles provides, all things being equal, an aircraft with greater combat persistence."

China finds new buyer for fighter jets

The JF-17 is a project jointly developed and produced by China and Pakistan, and any achievements belong to both sides. Any description that attributes the achievements solely to one side is provocative and an attempt to sow discord between China and Pakistan.

No it doesn't but thanks anyway

Since we are expecting another foreign order for the JF-17 Block-III, an important question arises about whether Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) will add an additional production line to meet increased demand. Currently, PAC’s production capacity has been estimated between 16 to 20 aircraft per year, with ongoing deliveries to fulfil existing contracts and domestic requirements. Azerbaijan has already signed a major deal for up to 40 Block-III fighters, making it the largest export customer to date, and deliveries of initial aircraft have begun. In addition, a Libyan National Army agreement reportedly includes 16 JF-17 Block-III jets, further expanding export commitments. With other potential customers showing interest, expanding production capacity through an additional line could be essential to meet export orders while ensuring the Pakistan Air Force’s own fleet modernisation and delivery timelines are maintained.
