A number of rivers and waterways did not contain a drop of water and became like this after the rainfall..Syria is suffering from drought and needs more rain to feed the groundwater from which springs burst forth, like the Al-Fijah spring, the main feeder for Damascus.Everything you see in the video was dry and life has been breathed into it

We always suspected, now there is a paper trail.

….bashar was always a snake we all know that I don’t think really anyone defends Bashar 😂 honestly like I said good riddance but like I have been saying I want to see jolani actually be a better person if he decides to stay in power instead of coming to a national agreement with all sides for the betterment of it’s people is still up in the air but our track record with Arab and “Muslim” leaders is once they get hold of power after a revolution they don’t give it up ever……does anyone believe sis is leaving anytime soon again no offense to edrogan but seems after the coup which I honestly was laughing my butt off because yeah he came out swinging like a man but afterwards it seems like he’s silencing any dissent and becoming just another guy who enjoys the power play

Syria has some very difficult challenges ahead regardless of regime in power.

There is the Zionist Al-Hijri project that aims to carve out a Druze puppet state aligned/serving Zionist interests under the false disguise of "saving the Druze" from some imaginary danger.

There is the low-scale Alawite insurgency on the coast that is reigniting from time to time. Almost no matter what the Syrian government does to combat such criminal elements, we will have media reports of some imaginary slaughter of Alawites and the usual drivel of minorities massacred.

In reality I am amazed at how little revenge and violence there have been in Syria given the extremely bloody and complex 15 year old civil war.

Then there is the SDF. Which can hardly be called a Kurdish entity either given that the majority of the population are local Arabs. I stopped following developments there 10 + years ago but from what I can see it is a strange mixture of local Arabs, Kurds, Assyrians and others, a few powerful clans and families, trying to create their own fiefdom to enrich themselves under the disguise of autonomy, rights and other such nonsense.

The new Syrian government, unlike the past Ba'athi regime, has recognized the notion of Kurds, Kurdish language and has even offered the SDF autonomy. Not sure what they want other than that.

There is no religious persecution of any minority either and any community is free to do what they have always done.

Within all of this there are also factions within the government.

Simply put, a destroyed country like Syria, is not something that you fix overnight so expectations should be realistic.

More so when Syria borders Israel directly. The only other Arab state that border Syria directly are Lebanon (itself a small version of Syria - just 100 times weaker as a country), Iraq (sparsely populated Ninawa and Al-Anbar - mostly Iraqi Sunni Arab - which is a community that remains disfranchised to a large degree within Iraq itself) and Jordan which has its own problems and not a key regional state.

Had Jordan, most of it historical Arab and an extension of Northern Hijaz, including the local population, been a part of KSA (the only country blocking a direct border with Syria), things would likely have been entirely different for Syria.

Sadly there are no Syrians here on this forum but it would be interesting for the discussions here, at least, to have some around. I know most Syrian viewpoints (within Syria, the Syrian diaspora) due to Arab social media, knowing many Syrians in person and interacting with many throughout the past 15 years in both Europe, KSA, Arab world etc.

Of course Syria, no matter what anyone here claims, is in a better place than 1 year ago. But nevertheless this does not change the ground realities above or the many challenges which one should be realistic about.

We can only wish the best for our Syrian brothers and sisters and Syria as a whole. Most importantly prosperity, peace and coexistence and fruitful cooperation.

UK, France strike suspected ISIS arms cache

Britain and France carried out a joint airstrike on Saturday targeting a suspected underground arms facility used by the Islamic State group in Syria. Officials said the operation aimed to prevent a resurgence of the militant organisation in the region.

The airstrike focused on a site in the mountains north of Palmyra, identified through intelligence analysis as a storage facility for weapons and explosives. Britain confirmed the area was free of civilian habitation, minimising the risk of collateral damage.

Typhoon FGR4 combat jets were deployed for the mission, supported by a Voyager refuelling tanker, while Paveway IV guided bombs were used to destroy access tunnels leading to the underground facility. Initial assessments indicate the target was successfully engaged.

British Defence Secretary John Healey said the operation demonstrates the United Kingdom’s commitment to working alongside allies to combat Daesh and prevent the spread of its violent ideology throughout the Middle East.

Western forces have maintained patrols over Syria to monitor and stop any attempts by Islamic State remnants to regroup. The group, which once controlled large parts of Syria, has been largely defeated since 2019 but continues posing a security threat.

Both air forces reported that all aircraft returned safely, and further evaluation of the strike’s effectiveness is underway. The joint action underscores continued international efforts to stabilise Syria and prevent the revival of extremist operations.

Syria says 3 soldiers injured in SDF attack, vows response

“As part of its ongoing escalation against army positions across different regions of the republic, SDF drones targeted a military police checkpoint near army deployment points in the vicinity of Deir Hafer, east of Aleppo,” the ministry said in a statement.

Damage was also reported to two military vehicles.

The ministry said the Syrian army will respond to the assault “in an appropriate manner,” without giving further details.

Syria, Israel to set up joint cell under US on de-escalation

By: AFP

Syria's new government and Israel will set up a joint group under US supervision to share intelligence and seek military de-escalation on the ground, they announced Tuesday after talks.

Syria's foreign minister travelled to Paris for the talks, which come after Israel has repeatedly struck its historic rival despite US unease over the pressure on the fragile government.

A joint statement issued by the US State Department after the talks in the French capital said that Syria and Israel were committed to "achieving lasting security and stability arrangements for both countries."

"Both sides have decided to establish a joint fusion mechanism — a dedicated communication cell — to facilitate immediate and ongoing coordination on their intelligence sharing, military de-escalation, diplomatic engagement and commercial opportunities under the supervision of the United States," the statement said.

"This mechanism will serve as a platform to address any disputes promptly and work to prevent misunderstandings."

The meeting initiated by the United States was the first in several months between Israel and Syria, which have no diplomatic relations.
