Russia - Ukraine war part ll. News and Discussions

What a disaster this war has been for Russia. Taking L’s across the board. I don’t think they’ve even taken the entirety of Pokrovsk yet.

But they’re really good at attacking Ukrainian civilians as they sleep.
They've invaded, occupied and annexed what they wanted and nobody has been able to get it back from them.

Rest of Ukraine is just getting destroyed for no reason.

That's a very unfair warning.

@Yommie should be allowed to continue to provide all updates regardless how big or small they are.

This is a defence forum after all.

The end of the Ukrainian International Legions could have a major impact on the war going forward.

Maybe. How many personnel total are we looking at here?

Now, in terms of experience, I'm inclined to agree. When the Legions were first established, the requirements for joining were rather strict.

Apparently Trump has greenlit the sanctions bill that would impose 500% secondary tariffs on buyers of Russian oil.

Four years of sanctions... and nothing.

Looks-like Russian did their homework well before they started war.

Okay. I've not really followed Yommie much on this thread but all his posts that I have seen so far, seem to be war related.

Russia has taken strategic losses across the board. Syria, Iran, Venezuela, NATO expansion, stagnant and sanctioned economy, 1.2M dead and wounded, tens of thousands of equipment losses, its shadow fleet of tankers seized and destroyed.

Russia has strategically lost the war. You’re too worried about a chunk of land and not the broader strategic outcomes of the war. If this was only about the land they annexed the war would have ended over 3 years ago. They’ve taken minimal land since the first couple months of the war.

It's a sizable force. About 5,000 men, so about 10% of the total Ukrainian army strength of about 50,000 men.

Kupyansk might end up getting wiped off the map the way Vovchansk was but it is what war is about when both sides are great warriors full of determination.

Congrats Ukraine army
For the first time ever the Ukraine armed forces eliminated more than 33,000 Russians in a single month 12/2025.
More than Russia monthly replacement rate
Putin seems not too happy.
Most Russian soldiers fell by Ukraine drones and bomb runs.

War is back and forth
Yommie only posts progress never posts withdraw or defeat. If just counting on him then Putin’s invasion army today would have reached Berlin.
Ukraine is an industrial country it’s not Venezuela. Zelinskki is not a bus driver. Ukraine now makes more drones than Russia. Total drone war coming.

A Russian 300mm Tornado-S MLRS rocket strikes a Ukrainian drone control center located in an abandoned building. The video was filmed in the village of Velyka Pisarevka, Sumy Oblast, Ukraine. The missile strike destroyed the building housing the Ukrainian drone operators.

Nah. That's what you like to think.

They are a strong and powerful country. They wanted to annex parts of Ukraine and have done so and nobody has been able to stop them through wars and sanctions.

Russia still has it's bases in Syria. Venezuelan military is still intact and Iran is still Iran.

With Donald Trump in power, NATO versus Russia looks like NATO will disintegrate soon after it's expansion.

These ginormous Russian 3000 kg siege bombs are horrifying, turning entire cities into rubble. These are the kind of bombs the West do not have, and that gives Russia an edge over Ukraine considering all of Ukraine's bombs are supplied by the West.
