GUJRAT:
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday lambasted the PTI-led Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa government, accusing it of leaving the province "in the stone age" while Punjab moves ahead with technology-driven development initiatives.

Addressing a laptop distribution ceremony at a university in Gujrat, Maryam contrasted what she described as Punjab's forward-looking policies with stagnation in K-P, saying students in Punjab now benefit from Honhaar scholarships, laptop schemes, the Parwaz Card, green buses and technical training programmes.

"So there is Honhaar here, and incitement there, but this is nothing to rejoice about," she said, adding that she was deeply disturbed that "people of K-P were still living in the stone age".

Maryam argued that the PTI government, which she said has ruled K-P for the past 13 years, had failed to introduce meaningful development initiatives.

"They do not know what development is. They do not realise that Honhaar scholarships also exist if one does not have the resources for their child's studies," she said.

"They do not know that you must have a gadget or a laptop or an iPad or a computer in your hands if you are to meet global standards in today's age."

Indirectly referring to PTI's long tenure in the province, she remarked that the public there "does not even know what development is," quipping that the K-P government's answer to every need was that it was providing "awareness".

She further maintained that blocking major roads in K-P does not affect Punjab's economy but instead harms K-P's own economic activity.

During the event, Maryam played archived video clips of former prime minister Imran Khan from his time in office. In the footage, the PTI founder could be heard threatening to remove televisions and air conditioners from prison cells of PML-N leaders.

Responding to that, Maryam said: "I am swearing by God that till today, neither I nor Nawaz Sharif or Shehbaz Sharif even thought of removing his AC or shutting off his food and TV."

Never liked her, however , got to admit she's working hard and doing some really good things for Punjab.

By stating the obvious?

Because of PTI, KP has become a failed state. Sindh is not far either.

Before 2013 we were are all in hope of what IK can deliver. 13 years later, just another duffer.

Even Altaf Hussain did better :ROFLMAO:

KP needs a Syria like makeover. Someone who is serious about the security and development of KP.
it doesnt matter. KP could have cavemen for all i care, however making insensitive statements like this does nothing for unity.

Broad brush strokes are used to paint Pakistanis in the UK also- i take it you dont enjoy that?

if it has come to that. some guys like us are worried about mental state our bright rulers and no one at civil beau. utters a word, then, we need to question ourselves, where our interests lie.

mind you, she is accompanied by many civil service specialists who have attained more than 90%, in every exam they have faced

If im the ruler, i'd hang every such civil servant

I agree - between the cavemen of Southern-mid and even northern rural Punjab, most of Sindh, KPK and Balochistan... Lahore seems to be doing OK.
Perhaps we should grant Lahore independence from Pakistan to get away from cavemen or perhaps the cavemen should be allowed to completely ransack Lahore and Jati Umra to the ground so that the class divide is equaled and then everyone can start as cavemen.

Punjab alone accounts for half of Pakistan's population and has a much higher budget than KPK, at least 2x if not more which is then mostly focused on one city (Lahore) .

I don't understand what satsifaction these Patwaris get from comparing with KPK which as a lower development budget than Sindh, and one that is facing constant terrorism due to proximity with Afghanistan and absorbing tribal areas.

On top of all that, Federal gvt seems to be witholding funds from KP as well.

What a pathetic state of affairs. If every one is going to become a nationalist and start sh*t talking others, then what's the point of stressing for one unit? Why not form a confederation (union of sovereign states that delegate limited, specific powers—typically defense, foreign affairs, or currency—to a weak central authority while retaining supreme authority over their internal affairs) and start living happy with good relations and helping out each other.

But the establishment won't agree to it.

During the PTI's tenure in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (approx. 2013-2023), significant development was reported in infrastructure, with 59% acknowledging road improvements and 53% noting better public transport, according to Gallup Pakistan. Key projects included the Peshawar Ring Road, Digital City, and various skill development programs in merged districts, with investments in police stations and road infrastructure.
Key Development Areas and Projects (PTI Era):

  • Infrastructure & Transport: Construction of the Peshawar Ring Road (northern part) and improvements in local connectivity, such as the Katling Bazaar to Mardan road.
  • Digitalization & IT: Investment in IT promotion, including the establishment of a Digital City and digitization of land records.
  • Public Safety & Services: Construction of 10 police stations and 3 check posts in the Malakand Division.
  • Health & Social Welfare: Development of Reproductive Health Service Centers, family welfare centers, and mobile service units in various districts.
  • Skill Development: Implementation of programs in the merged areas focusing on tourism, technical training, and IT to enhance capacity for 5500 individuals.
Despite these developments, some, including supporters, noted gaps in, or a lack of, new projects in certain areas post-2024, Gallup Pakistan.

let's not get carried away. There is always room for improvement.
BTW Lahore is not the whole of Punjab!!!

29 dams completed in KPK - daily times

Lot more PTI could do in KPK. Look at the current Maryam tenure. Unlike Nawaz Sharif she has not done any major brick and mortar project (probably cannot afford it anymore) but is still managing to look busy by doing renovation of old areas, new uniforms, police cars, laptops etc.

PTI has much smaller budget sure but one expects a lot more done in 13 years by Imran Khan's party.
