Russian dealers of Oting started sales of the frame SUV "Paladin". The car, named "Paladin", is the first model in the series of SUVs of the Oting brand and is exclusively presented in Russia by Sinomach Automobile (legal entity of Hyperion Leasing LLC). Two more new models under the Oting brand are scheduled to premiere in 2024. The distribution agreement with Zhengzhou Nissan plant is signed for 5 years.
It is planned that by the end of 2024 the network of official dealers of Oting in Russia will include 60 enterprises, and by the end of 2025 additional 30 car showrooms will be opened.

From 1 April, the government will change the procedure for calculating the amount of payment for importing cars from the Eurasian Economic Union countries into Russia. Thus, underpaid taxes and fees, due to understatement of the customs value of cars imported to Russia from the EAEU countries, will be taken into account as part of the recycling fee, mandatory for payment by both individuals and legal entities. Experts interviewed by the AUTOSTAT agency told how the introduction of new rules will affect the prices and range of foreign cars on the Russian car market.
According to Alexey Starikov, deputy general director for new car sales, parallel import of Avilon AG, previously import through some EAEU countries allowed importing cars at an underestimated customs value, which caused significant risks for end consumers. In particular, the supply channel through Kyrgyzstan, with its favourable customs clearance conditions, previously attracted numerous legal entities and individuals without experience.
As a result, this created numerous problems for end buyers, who, among other things, risked having to compensate for the difference in the price of the car themselves. Individuals will now be able to import cars for personal use by paying all necessary customs duties. Cars will be delivered with appropriate taxes and correct customs value.
According to Nikolay Ivanov, Director of New Car Sales Department of ROLF, with the introduction of new rules there will be much less unprofessional private players in the market. Customers will benefit from this, as all sales from legal entities will be covered by the Consumer Rights Protection Law, according to which the goods are provided with a warranty. "At the moment, the cost of a car cleared through customs in Kyrgyzstan is about 30 per cent cheaper than it is sold in Russia by official dealers. The price increase will be progressive, taking into account the demand for such cars.
By 1 April the warehouses of professional sellers will be full, and their stocks will be enough for about 3 - 5 months. At present, of all parallel imports, the share of such supplies through professional sellers is about 60 - 65%, of the total sales volume, I think about 12 - 15%. Thanks to its high torque (824 Nm), the electric vehicle will be able to accelerate to 60 km/h in 2.7 seconds. Mileage on a single charge will be 463 kilometres, top speed - 197 km/h. The electric crossover will be equipped with an 88 kWh LiNMC battery and an energy recovery system.

Chery has introduced a new sub-brand in Russia focused on alternative energy vehicles called Chery Tiggo. The brand intends to become a leader in the segment of mass hybrid and electric cars on the Russian market. As Motor.ru writes, in March the company will start certification in Russia of electric crossover eQ7.
According to preliminary data, we are talking about a more powerful modification (211 hp) with an increased battery (67 kWh, range in the Chinese specification 512 km). This model is scheduled to enter the Russian market and launch the Chery Tiggo sub-brand in the third quarter of 2024. The eQ7 electric crossover will be one of five models that will be sold under Chery Tiggo brand by 2025.
The information about the remaining models is not confirmed in the company yet, but with high probability one of them will be an electric crossover iCar 03. By the end of this year, Russian representative office of Chery plans to sell several thousand hybrids and electric cars. To date, two electrified Chery models are presented in Russia: these are hybrid crossovers Tiggo 7 PRO Plug-in Hybrid and Tiggo 8 PRO Plug-in Hybrid. Presumably in 2025, they will change generation, getting all-wheel drive and fast-charging capability. In addition, in the second half of 2024 Chery Tiggo 9 flagship crossover will reach our country, which, as expected, will be presented in both petrol and "mixed" version.
As previously reported, at the first stage Chery Tiggo dealer network will consist of 30 strategic partners who will start opening centres in major Russian cities. By the end of 2024 the number of Chery Tiggo dealerships is planned to increase up to 70.

Such data are contained in the report "Vehicle Park in Russia as of 01.01.2024", prepared by the experts of "AUTOSTAT" agency. Thus, the share of "Chinese" accounts for 3.1% of the total fleet of passenger cars in the country.
The most widespread Chinese brand in the Russian car fleet is Chery, which owns 26% of the total number of passenger cars from China registered as of January 1st. In quantitative terms, this amounts to 375.6 thousand vehicles. The second place in this indicator is occupied by Geely (273.4 thousand vehicles), the third - Haval (215.1 thousand vehicles). Apart from them, Lifan and Great Wall (152.1 thousand and 124.4 thousand vehicles, respectively) are in the top-5.
The indicators of each of the remaining brands are below the mark of 100 thousand cars. The leader among Chinese cars registered in Russia belongs to Haval Jolion crossover, the fleet of which at the beginning of 2024 amounted to 81.3 thousand vehicles. It is followed by another "fresh" model - Geely Coolray (69.4 thousand vehicles). And then there are Chery Tiggo (56.3 thousand vehicles), Lifan X60 (53.8 thousand vehicles), Great Wall Hover H3 (51.6 thousand vehicles) and Lifan Solano (50.5 thousand vehicles).
