When was khameneis residence first hit? Was it during the initial strikes? I’m wondering if the ongoing IRGC attacks were ordered while khamenei was still alive

The whole reason strikes even happened in the morning was because the mole inside Iran told them he is unprotected in the compound having a meeting with top brass.

Khamenei and crew was killed by over a dozen Tomahawks. They didn't want to alert them since Iranian operatives were likely staking out airbases looking for a massive fighter takeoff and in broad daylight it would have given the surprise away.

I suspect it has more to do with electronic intelligence than Human intelligence.
I suspect the phones of all Iranian top leaderships were bugged, or it could be any other transmitting device, such as wireless earbuds. If the MAC address is knowwn, that device unique MAC address can be tracked. There may be other ways to do the same @JamD @Oscar

Then they also are ignoring OPSEC.
One of the first things is either have your own devices or if you know things are in dire situation go old school and ditch electronic devices.

IRGC has been unusually aggressive. Do you think they are carrying khameneis orders, or is this IRGC without khamaneis restraint?

They wouldn't have known whether or not he was alive or not since they had to clear the rubble but they would've at least known that Israel and US are going for the kill shot and hence why they've reacted with a lot more intensity compared to the 12 day war initially
