NooooooooIt's the same with Osama and AQ
Not that I'm comparing Hamas to AQ
But often think of Osama as someone who made a mistake attacking the U.S and then died although years later and elderly for it
But that's not really it, Osama knew he couldn't take on the U.S or the west, with himself and a group of a few thousand, he just wanted to set off a series of events that facilitated the U.S's demise
If he died he would consider himself a martyr for his cause
And in many ways he achieved his aims
Not at all. Hamas doesn't operate that way. Hamas has a shura (council) which makes decisions.
Do not listen to many Palestinians that have no idea what they're talking about. They'll tell you Hamas did it to free prisoners or something else.
Hamas thought long about it. The region was moving in a bad direction in political terms (going towards Israel) and religious terms, people were going away from Islamic norms fast , even in Gaza. Hamas wanted to reset the region to go back to Islamic norms but also trigger a real battle around Palestine .
Bin Laden is some other guy that is closer to being a khawarij and I'm not sure what his aims for the Arab world were. He wanted a religious state in Saudi Arabia or something.
Hamas does not want to control anyone's beliefs or force them into any kind of system. Just remind them don't forgot who you are.
