So, the expected 3 day regime change has not materialized, but the Americans are determined to not give up with their original plans and are now doubling down hard.

I do think the news of the Kurds entering is a distraction. Even if Kurds to attempt to enter Iran, their purpose is to act as cannon fodder ie to become a feint to thin out Iranian security forces across Iran.

With the news of the departure of both the French and UK aircraft carriers for the Middle East and the additional US carriers makes me think that the Americans are thinking of capturing an Iranian port like Chabahar, to form a beach head for the invasion of Iran ?

The key thing is when will the French carriers, and UK carriers relocate to the Gulf of Oman also. That will be an indication of invasion of some description to carve out land, from which they can then operate on Iranian terrority.

The next key thing to watch may well be for the ability of Iranian security forces to move around Iran, ie will the Americans start to attack train lines, roads, bridges and maybe this is what the B1's are for ?

Maybe Iran would do well to get 'ahead' of the curve for a change rather than 'reacting' to everything, and actually begin a full mobilization of its Army and also bring in its reservists online and get them all trained up, as it may well need them sooner than later ?

Unlikely the US plan for an amphibious landing on Iran's coasts and ports can succeed.

Any USN ship, including a carrier, will get within range of Hypersonic ASBMs if they come too close to the coasts. Iran also has many aerial suicide drones like Shaheds, Arash-2s and Hadids, Underwater Submarine Suicide Drones, Surface Unmanned Suicide Drone Vessels, Antiship Cruise Missiles like the 1000km range Abu Mahdi and supersonic variants like the Moskit Sunburn types(I assume Iran already has reverse-engineered Russian Sunburn Mach 3 supersonic antiship missile?).

And if they try to capture Kharg Island will be in range of MLRS and mines too. Thousands of decoys are placed along the coasts which satelites can't differentiate from the real thing, so the US will end up wasting bombs and munitions destroying decoys instead of the real antiship missile batteries which are well-hidden and dug-in. The US can't mount any successful landing operation without their naval fleet becoming sunken scrap metal resting at the bottom of the sea.

Alternatively, and if he is really smart, he may be feigning weakness to draw Trump into a ground invasion.

Maybe Tehran genuinely believes it can withstand a ground assault and inflict a high cost on an invader - at this stage of the conflict, it might be Iran's best hope for a victory of sorts.
