The smartest thing the U.S. did for themselves was leaving Iraq and Afghanistan. IRan’s defense doctrine the last 20 years was that it could use the bases there as leverage to pummel U.S. troops with lower tier weaponary from the Afghan and Iraqi border areas. Without 300K+ troops in these two countries, the target bank for Iran became much further away.

Iran should hit Israeli and Arab oil installations on Day 1 or Day 2, full scorched earth, instead of waiting for Israel/Us to first hit Iran’s.
