What are the chances (in your opinion) if US gets bogged down in this war and its most of its fleet is busy focused on Iran and munitions are burned to critical levels, that Xi would try to take advantage and take Taiwan in a Blitzkrieg operation?

It seems a perfect opportunity to coordinate with the world and collapse the world economy via oil prices and Iran keeping the U.S. distracted while China makes a strong move on the island

I know a bit about Xi and his upbringing/family and how he rose to power. He doesn’t strike me as a man who wants to be forced into a military solution, no matter how enticing the opportunity.

There was rumors that he wanted to take Taiwan back in 2024, but he was talked out of it by a high ranking party official (forgot the name) who has since been removed for “corruption”.

I’d like a Chinese person’s opinion as I don’t follow Chinese geopolitics enough to make an assessment on Xi’s long term plan for Taiwan.

I don’t see any such rumors. A couple Qalibaf was assainated rumors.

But IDF is quick to claim if it has done an operation and feels confident to make the claim.

I don’t see any pro IDF accounts making any such claims about Argachi or Qalibaf.

Remember Argachi is a moderate, he was on Zarif’s negotiating team. He comes from Pezeshkhian camp. Larijani was also a pragmatic man, his daughter lives in the U.S. for Pete sakes.
