The Washington Post investigation says two sanctioned Iranian cargo ships left Gaolan port in China carrying what analysts believe was sodium perchlorate, a key chemical used to make solid rocket fuel for ballistic missiles, based on satellite imagery, ship-tracking data, and the ships’ heavy draft.

The report says the cargo was likely headed to Iran, probably near military-linked facilities, and that China could have stopped or delayed the shipment but did not.

Based on estimates from similar shipments, around 1,000 tons of sodium perchlorate could produce enough propellant for roughly 200 to 260 medium-range ballistic missiles, with some estimates going higher depending on missile type, so if the shipment size was in that range, it could support the production of hundreds of missiles.

if US stops this I wonder if Pakistan can start shipping sodium perchlorate to Iranian through land border on cargo trucks

Pakistan can get it from China and get it to Iran to help Iran stay in the war

1,000 tons can help fuel over 250 ballistic missile so 2,000 tons per month could allow for 500 launches per month or 15+ per day

I do wonder if the US will sink the ship, or bomb the cargo shortly after it has been off loaded. ( Ideally opportunity for Iran to setup an aerial ambush too ?? ).

post war Iran will likely see these grow even further as Iran will seek to double or triple its missile stockpile for any future conflict. I also think it’s likely a more powerful missile that can be also fired from eastern Iran will be built.

Iranian missile cities provide invincible in this conflict and a reliable strategic advantage. Iran should build more mountain cities and move critical national infrastructure to them.

Iran has been using Fattah-1 secondary booster as a terminal speed boost to evade last minute interceptors. See it in clip below. 3rd time I send it do this maneuver.

Interesting as it was originally supposed to help it extend its range in upper atmosphere to reach Israel.
