There are two main goals for the US in this war; opening the Strait was not one of them because the Strait was already open BEFORE the war. And now, by telling Iran they need to open the strait, it literally ceded the strait to Iran. That would be a victory for Trump/US. Of course it’s only a 2 week ceasefire, and final political outcomes are still up in the air, but a reopening after killing half of Iranian leadership and destroying it’s military and defense industries is a W for Trump.
Both goal were not even mentioned in this war, Iran did not pledge to give up their Nuclear ambition nor the Ballistic Missile Ambition. So how exactly do you see this as a "win" for us? When we're all said and done, is it literally going back to before Feb 28? That is if this ceasefire holds.
I do agree with you, this is a win for the military defence company, but a lost for everyday Americans, because the only thing that changes is we lost about 500 million in equipment alone in this war, take a guess who is going to pay for it? Iran may have lost a couple of thousand people in the upper echelon, and the gas price in the US is up almost 100%, and they aren't coming down until at least October.
