the blockage on the Iran ports even although Iran had open the straits is a big mistake

he thought it would bring them leverage in talks in round 2

I think its working since iranian ships cannot go out to export oil secretly or bring crucial items from abroad into mainland..its like iranian economy exports are choking.
Also primary condition for talks to start is end of blockade by usa as per various news outlet.hence iran feels its necessary for its survival.

By Iran's reformists you mean Mojtaba Khamenei? As obviously speaker, foreign minister etc can't make any decision without supreme leader and IRGC approval.

Also its them the supreme leader / IRGC who decided to accept ceasefire. I don't understand how any other reformist can do a thing in Iran's power structure.

No. Even if any route exists, the land routes are several times expensive. One ship can transport tons of stuff at a fraction of cost. There's simply no alternative to trade by sea.

Iran is being unreasonable here. Iran blocked Strait of Hormuz itself for weeks and stopped the tankers of other Gulf nations leaving out of strait unless they paid the toll tax while Iranian tankers keep moving in/out of Strait without any restriction during the period.
Iran and US both are stubborn. The region will have serious consequences If Iran acquires nuclear weapons and/or start charging the toll tax which is against the international law as strait of Hromuz is not man's made.

Very silly statement by her. Iran has been under severe sanctions since the early 1980's and Iran has survived. UAE has been under Iranian sanctions for 6weeks, and they are running around asking for dollars as they fear a bank run.

There is no reason to restrict passage toll solely to manmade straights.

Also, the Canal of Suez was first created by the Achaemenids of Persia, and later was revived and expanded by the French and the Brits. Using your logic, Egypt should allow free passage there too, or give the toll money to Iran, UK and France.
