Dedicated thread for Bangladeshi drone and missile acquisition and indigenous production projects.

The below is an AI summary of the drones in use by Bangladeshi armed forces.

Bayraktar TB2 (Turkey): The Bangladesh Army inducted 6 Bayraktar TB2 UCAVs in December 2023, with a total of 12 ordered, designed for intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and precision strikes. These have been deployed near border areas.

Other Reconnaissance Assets: The force currently operates around 38 reconnaissance drones and 6 reconnaissance-attack drones.
Selex ES Falco: Used by the Bangladesh Air Force for surveillance.

Indigenous Production (China Collaboration): The Bangladesh Air Force signed an agreement with China Electronics Technology Group Corporation International (CETC) to establish a domestic production facility. This will produce Medium Altitude Low Endurance (MALE) and Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) drones, increasing self-reliance and lowering dependence on imports.

Potential New Projects: Reports suggest development of indigenous drones like the KX2, with airshows displaying potential new local designs.

Excuse the corny CGI. But these guys are trying to take it to the next level. They opened up a new subsidiary Dhumketu Defence - dedicated towards missile development. The parent DhumketuX has been around for a while now with a focus on space rockets.

Few things comes to the mind.

Angi Bina rocket motor said to have 120kn+ thrust. (The first stage of Bidrohi rocket)

Standard SRBM rocket motors has a thrust of around 170kn

Now If we could know Angi Bina's burn time and specific impulse we could've made some rough estimates for military applications.

Nevertheless, 120kn rocket motor is a decent start for us. It is very early to say but they might be up to something. Probably showed some concept of agni bina's military applications to the army chief. Hence calling it 'top secret.'

Today For military application of a rocket, Smallest payload that has combat relevance is 100 pound over 70km.

dunno if we could get 250 pound payload up to 100km range from some future derivative of Angi Bina.

Most likely this is just a civilian front for ballistic missile development. You dont lob 500kg in low earth orbit only for peaceful purposes. 😌

But there is no government funding or investment. Only support they give is the lip service.

Bangladesh should heavily invest in drones

If Bangladesh is going to be slow in expanding it's airforce, then it needs a alternative method of defending itself especially from any threat from Burma

Did you guys see what army chat ef said recently? A rare acknowledgement of the terrible state our armed forces are in.

About not having adequate SAM coverage led to the Rohingya refugee crisis? I agree. Plus a decent air force.

And yet nothing really changed substantially. Everything moving at a snail's pace.

For Burma we mostly need air defense and artillery. Both of which are lacking in bd. India is number one rival in the air.

I mean if you tried to develop these in hasina era you would be forcefully dissapeared by the same army in pretext of terrorism. The fact that a private company is being allowed to develop this in the first place is eye opening
