I believe eventually this number will grow into hundreds as mark two mark three versions come on board

It's the only way India can field 50/60 squadrons of fighters on future
IE 35/40 manned fighters squadrons
15/20 UCAV

This thread is about the concept and doctrine of adding indengious ucav of stealth designs to Indian military using Indian engines

It's complex expensive Project
They are not taking about making samosas

An aging jet does not have the 0.05 radar cross section of the ghatak

This is strike light weight bomber designed to go in before Rafales or before su30mki with Brahmos or scalp. Even before harop drones which took out radars

The ghatak goes first unnoticed undetected

It is all about radar cross section
So your point using aging fighters will.not work the same way
 
My my, a certain little indian sure is feeling insecure about the prospects of Pakistan receiving a fifth generation fighter way before india, first making a thread about how the US is still making F15s (which now seems to have been deleted by the mods) and now finding a new white elephant to worship in the form of an indian UCAV.

I would be far more insecure
If India had one tenth of Pakistani resources
I'd be asking myself this cannot be sustained
The gap is huge now

But back to topic ghatak is slatec to cost around 63 million each about the same price as Tejas mark1a

And will start to arrive in 2030 onwards hopefully

Your comment about white elephant

Is the Vikrant carrier a white elephant
Is the three Arihant class nuclear armed submarines sitting indidected white elephants
Is the Brahmos white elephant

Yes Tejas delayed maybe white elephant
But if they get it right like the other projects in mentioned you will not be calling this a white elephant
Ghatak will hit the enemy first well before Brahmos I can guarantee that much that's the entire ethos

It may never happen if you pray hard enough
Vikrant delayed it came
Marine Rafales delayed but arriving in 2028
Arihant Nuke subs delayed but we have three in Arabian sea now this minute
Delayed means just that they still arrive

Its just the source is a bit ... (how can I put it politely) ... total b.s.

That site puts up new Indian Tech literally by the hour. And most of it is made up.

I will say the only thing I enjoy on that site are the 'Comments' that last for 24hrs and are then removed.

Who needs wishes and prayer when reality would say otherwise to your claims.
 
I heard they already completed testing by converting a retired kiran jet into a pilotless jet and showing full flight capabilities. Apparently it is one of the most classified projects and only one known photo of a pilotless kiran in flight has ever made it to the public space.
