JF-17 PFX program

Fachhochschule plan that was supposed to be 11 but then Zardari happened need to be revived.

1 has been opened and think 2 more are under execution in Sambrial and Islamabad. Let’s hope we make up for the lost time.
I have not hard about this plan tbh. But I think we need a national level attention on this.

A policy and separate funding should be devised. Just copy the NUST model.

I am becoming cautiously optimistic of NASTP, specially after seeing the first product coming out in the category right on the cue.

The radar has been unveiled and the EW product was also pictured a couple of months ago at one NASTP facility.

It provides that over arching plan and roadmap that was always desired by forum members and a multi year plan to execute it instead of ad hoc isolated programs.
Institutes like these typically face internal internal problems based on management - either it can be really good or really bad

Another thing is a steady stream of income to keep R&D going consistently, lots of things happen in Pakistan where funding is spontaneously cut usually to be diverted in essential areas

Nonetheless a comprehensive national policy to increase GDP spending on education and STEM universities needs to be pursued if you want quality manpower in any organisation

That's why it's important not to conflate the personality with the institution. Whatever flaws the current chief may have, there's still an entire force behind him, and they'll do their jobs. So, it's no surprise that adept individuals have entered into NASTP and are keeping that ship going in productive ways.

dont become optimistic, this was not a product of NASTP and actually rather a product of significant govt backing, infact, NUST et al got a massive grant from the govt for exportable technologies- i forgot the name. This isnt NASTP stuff, NASTP still is a joke, theres another 5 radars to be unveiled, thank NUST.

Yes, it might just be a matter of gaining traction.

Hard to keep up with PAF 5th Gen plans

Azm Project
Working on KAAN with Turks
J-31
PFX

Surely all the above will merge into say just two different fighter types?
Azm is dead.

KAAN is looking to be a long term high end solution.

J-31 is looking to be a short to medium term immediate 5th gen stop gap until KAAN.

PFX is still a complete unknown, and I'm willing to bet it has more to do with keeping JF-17 Thunders lines in operation, rather than upgrading the thunder, or building a 5th gen replacement for the Thunder.

Good trying to give a positive spin on shitty pak situation now Indian is ready to take any action. They want knowing pak has no stomach for it 🤪

Blocking water, shipping , occupying siachen , what’s next , Indian knows pak has no capacity no oil reserves no economy left

I don't know about that specific thing but I know other times when PAF insisted on inserting NASTP as a "middle man" between international deals with PAC Kamra. Even though NASTP had nothing to do with them. And then those deals were tanked due to the pointless bureaucracy this added and the general incompetence of the people at NASTP. So I tend to believe that NASTP had nothing to do with this radar.

yeah all of the testing and stuff was done very very far away from NASTP, it does seem like they needed to make it look like something 'good' has atleast come out of NASTP lol. Need to wash their hands of peoples suspicion being aroused wrt to corruption, though, i suspect our 4 star acm is making a few dollars from the Chinese with how heavily hes going on on solutions that dont make a whole lot of sense always hmm

@Faani83 shared this. From 6 minute onwards pfx is mentioned, a brand new design.

I have started a new thread in which Retired Commander Khalid Chisti spoke to PAF ACM on PAF modernization and on PFX. Make up your own mind after watching it!

PFX = Putting all the system from JF-17 Block 3 into stealth design airframe.

If the PFX plan can get the support of Chengdu Aircraft, it will not be a problem. They have a complete set of technologies and equipment to develop fifth-generation aircraft, not only wind tunnels, but also omnidirectional microwave chambers, so that computer simulations are not needed.

This rules out the block 4 being called pfx.
It might actually end up being a single engine medium weight stealth fighter. Or could they have started work on one of the design produced during project azm studies?
Calling the project JF-17 PFX might be showing the evolution from the jf-17 to new PFX fighter.
Although I’m still not sold on that totally new design idea, might still be a stealthy jf-17 in medium weight category.
