Global Naval Power Rankings 2026 - US Navy Retains Top Ranking

Using the GFP rankings, let's take a look at the naval asset breakdown:

Russia

United States

Note the US fleet has no frigates or patrol vessels. Mine warfare was diminished in part with the retirement of most of the mine sweeping fleet. The US has less reliance in corvettes due to the size and capability of the destroyer fleet. Patrol vessels are not needed as that falls under the US Coast Guard.

LCS are patrol vessels in practical.
Russia beyond India while India has two operative carriers It is not acceptable also.
Excuse me but that list is BS.
I can understand Russia has more SSBN but those are not counting for conventional war. They're nearly unusable in case of conventional warfare at sea.

Russian hypersonic anti-ship Missiles will be enough to destroy enemy Naval fleet

No matter how many Warships you have, they don't stand a chance against Russia.

Countries that can produce their own platforms possess real power and can sustain themselves in war.

USA
China
Russia
Japan
France
The UK
S.Korea
India
Turkiye
Italy

Royal Navy isn't what it used to be. Just look at the availability of its SSNs and the peacetime deployment of the fleet. The Type 45 destroyers have also spent years dealing with propulsion and power-generation issues, with several ships tied up in long refits and upgrade programmes instead of being operational.

Russian Yasen-class SSNs are among the most capable attack submarines in service today

This is exactly why the delays in the Constellation-class program matter.

The US Navy wanted these FREMM based frigates to take over many of the routine escort and presence missions so the Arleigh Burke destroyers could focus on high end air defence and strike roles. But with the frigates still not in service, that burden continues to fall on the Burkes.

I agree, but they're to few and Russia It is the biggest country of the world so their power gets diminished when considering their number and the size of the country.

Anyway It is so crazy to put Indonesia over Italy, for example.
Italy has active 6 of the best SSKs of the world (U212) they have 10 full combat capable sized frigates and/or destroyers, with long range SAM (Aster 15/30) they have a brand new LHD and a STOVL carrier with F35. They have the best antisubmarine helicopter in service (NH90) and best medium sized transport helicopter of the world (EH101). Not to mention France. But hey, Italy deserves a higher rank position than Indonesia with all my respects.

But the number of frigates with VKSK capable of launching zircon or Kalibr are just 3 right now. And the size of the country is too vast to have capability to answer other enemy vessels.
By the way. India has naval Brahmos that outmach easily Kalib-r.
Even if their naval aircrafts are not as good as US Navy and Chinese ones, India has naval embarked aircrafts something that Russians Navy don't have and presumably won't have.
I am so sorry for Russians, but they let their conventional surface fleet die.
Iván Green LST are a disaster and newer LST class are taking years to be just launched.
Russia is showing problems in modern surface fleet construction. You can't take 8 years to build and test a frigate sized warship.
Neither UK, Italy, France or Turkey have this problems for naval construction.
