US Perspective on the Iran - Israel / US War

Trump and Rubio are desperate for a deal, any deal but the Iranians not playing ball.

I think the Iranian government is so concerned about its future, especially in light of the massive US military build-up, that it is even extending an olive branch by refraining from attacking Israel.

However, I believe the fanatical IRGC sees little future for itself. As a result, it appears desperate to create chaos and instability across the region in an attempt to ensure its own survival.

POTUS: "A year ago the United States of America attacked, very powerfully, the Houthis, for their interference with commerce and trade, by shooting at ships. Since that time, and during our conflict with Iran, they have acted very responsibly. Unfortunately, now they are starting up again, shooting at two Saudi Arabian ships last night. Please let this TRUTH serve to represent that if they do this again, the U.S. will hold Iran responsible, in that the Houthis are a Surrogate and/or Proxy of Iran, and major military punishment will be inflicted upon Iran and, of course, the Houthis, themselves, who I am very disappointed with in that they have, until now, acted very professionally and smart. Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP"

This post below by RescueRanger makes me now certain that the Americans will do a land invasion of Iran, whether that is an island, or some kurdish incursion I don't know.

They are making one final large roll of the dice to try and turn the tide in their favour for "better terms". I suspect it is Kharg Island given its economic value to Iran and those around the Straits.

I personally think that even if the USA is successful, they will not be able to hold onto them very long, and knowing the Iranians, it wont make a difference in them "relenting" or "bending" the knee to the USA ( imho ! ). The American calculus and logic does not work in the Iran scenario, they simply do not understand the Iranian people at all.

This phase-2 of war is all about SOH control. The strait which was even not in Iran's control before the war.

Iran is stubborn and is willing to take heavy punishment but not willing to give up SOH control. Previous Iranian leadership was much lenient in this regard.

Trump should offer Iran mutual control of SOH lol. Both keeps share from tolls. Trump would love it. If Iran agrees to that then that would be hilarious. gcc countries would say WTH?

Yeah, that’s the only logical outcome here actually. Short of the U.S. committing a large number of troops in a massive land invasion of Iran, which would still not open the SoH.

Time for a friggin deal. Bang their heads together and lets get on with our lives. Ffs
Im sick of any life loss.
I still believe take that cockroach Netanyahu out of the equation and some sort of normality can resume

How can Iran be pragmatic enough to refrain from attacking Israel but also fanatical? This is a contradiction.

Bro
Land invasion is easy to say - in practice its next to impossible. The losses would be astronomical. Is orange brain capable of answering to his inbreds when they see the body bags?

Yeah, it would define and destroy Trump’s entire legacy. I don’t think he wants to do that. Now he’s stuck in this quagmire with Iran thanks to Israel.

Brent crude has officially crossed $100 (again).

Saudis are being wise not to directly attack Yemen, because the consequences would be very bad.

I don't think I said Iran is pragmatic. My point is that Iran appears reluctant to confront Israel directly while continuing to threaten smaller Arab countries.

What is so special about Iran? It's currently experiencing the same harsh reality that many other failed countries have faced when caught up in military conflict with the US. Afghanistan and Somalia endured years of strikes and instability. Why should Iran be considered different? 🤔

So far, I don't think Iran has managed to prevent even a single one of those estimated 25,000 airstrikes on its territory. It's like they're taking it lying down.

Others at least try to defend their airspace with anti-aircraft guns, missile defence systems, and interceptors. Iran, on the other hand, seems to spend more time complaining after taking strikes instead of demonstrating an effective air defence. 🤔

Oil Soars As Trump Warns Iran Will Pay For Future Houthi Shipping Attacks, Rubio Rules Out Deal

...Rubio continued the blame-game while suggesting that if Tehran were to play ball on negotiating a deal for the Hormuz Strait, it could receive major economic benefits.

"Iran can be the richest country in the Middle East if they wanted to be. But instead, they take their money, and they use it and they give it to Hezbollah. They give it to Hamas. They give it to the Houthis. They give it to Shia militias. They give it to sponsored terrorism all over the world," he said.

Iran "will pay a very heavy price for the things they are doing. They are already paying a heavy price," he said. Rubio also responded to recent statements of the Iranians talking about exacting "an eye for an eye" in terms of military approach. The US top diplomat then asserted that President Trump's approach was "a head for an eye". He described that currently Iran's military-industrial base is being "decimated" - suffering "billions" of dollars" in damage. This as...

The US bombs Iran for the 12th consecutive night, killing at least two people and wounding 11 others in an attack on the Shalamcheh border crossing with Iraq. Jordan, Bahrain and Kuwait have reported retaliatory missile and drone attacks from Iran.
