East Pakistani voters casted their vote on Pakistani ballot (there were no Bangladesh written in it), based on Pakistani electoral context. Then politicians also made their election promises based on Pakistani electoral context. After the birth of Bangladesh everything changed. Bangladesh faced a different reality.

Did D. Yunus was installed because Killer Hasina and her entire parliament unconstitutionally fled to india, creating an constitutional crisis. Apolitical D. He did his job well with certifications from civilized world (india ain't part of it) and handed over the power to the elected government.
