Robots now working in convenience stores and even have doing packages. Who cares about an ageing population if robots end up doing nearly everything...

This is AI integrated into the physical world not just on the internet.

Soon robots will be looking after and cleaning up and entertaining the elderly at home.

Labor costs is going to be meaningless because a humanoid robot does not ask for breaks, maternity leave, work cover injuries etc

This is going to lead to mass unemployment, and eventual poverty. You're looking at severe unrest, if not outright revolution.

Im not even talking China, as its made proper laws dictating that companies cannot fire and replace humans (though it doesnt go far enough, imo), but rather the rest of the world as well.

Robots delivering food via drones all across China now:

Yeah everyone is worried because of this. Especially now that robots can do nearly every low level job out there now.

I think people who are rich and have many investments/properties/savings will be fine in the mean time but people who do work like call centre, taxi driving, baristers etc are gonna be fked.

The only real safe space right now is medical. Nurses, psws, doctors.

Ai is not advanced enough to take over, especially since robotics has not caught up to the rapid advances being made with Ai. Nor are people comfortable enough to trust Ai with their care yet, as Ai still tends to make too many mistakes.

But even that may change in the coming decades.

Mark my words, Ai is not going to lead to a utopia, its going to lead to mass unrest in some nations, outright revolution and civil war in others.

I work in healthcare in allied health sector so robots can't do functional assessments and write reports yet so yeah im still alright for now.

But I agree, low income countries with low labor costs is how they became wealthier historically such as China or Korea or Taiwan etc. But now if you got robots doing the job, its less hassle and probably cheaper then getting a nigerian to do it.

Robots taking over is going to create two classes of people.

Those that have the money to buy many robots to make more money

Those that have no money for robots and have their jobs taken by robots

You folks are getting it all wrong , no economy can sustain itself without consumers...if majority of the population doesn't have money to buy products and services then rich won't get richer..

There will be income tax or some other kind of tax on robots and the proceeds will be given to unemployed....the unemployed will live comfortable lives...
Developing countries will get screwed.

Nothing is guaranteed in the future unfortunately. If the western fascists class get their way, the unemployed will be microchipped and forced to do labor to harvest production.

I am sure the unemployed will get some money just like how the GCC is basically a large welfare state.

China law means that Robots can not steal jobs but if you look deeper it also means death of multiple industries. Just because China can not fire someone to replace with robot (taxi driver for example ) does not mean that the company will continue to hire people. They will just let the industry gradually die and increase number of robots while not hiring anymore people.

Electricians, plumbers and joiners will be safe.
My father is a electrician and gas fitter in Australia before he retired. Its a tough job climbing in the ceilings sitting on insulation where its routinely over 50 degrees celcius.

I did a few days with him and i wouldn't want to do that as a career

There is a trades shortage in America and young men are being heavily pushed into them, with promises of not wasting money on college and job security from AI. They leave out the physical labor and poorer working conditions part.
