Bangladesh Keen To Join Saudi-Pak-Turkey Defence Alliance, Says PM's Top Aide

Slowly but accurately and decisively, Bangladesh is starting to pivot towards its natural alliances and brotherhood and join its muslim brotherly countries in the right direction.
India can no longer rest easy given the change in Bangladesh's political and miliary doctrines. The Bangladeshi's realize this and are working that way.

As it should. You can see how the Hindutva are sweating it out.

Pakistan should stop this. Bangladesh is a complete basket case when it comes to military matters and defense procurements. 20-30 years, and they have yet to fully commit to buying just a dozen jets for their airforce.

Bangladesh will be hangers on - and the door should be shut on them until they meet minimal standards for the size of their armed forces, budget allocation for defense procurements on a sustained basis etc...

In fact, there should be no further expansion of the pact until the founding members fix the core design issues of the pact. ie lack of spare military capability and commitments to the pact in terms of capability and funding levels, etc.
You can say same about KSA. Their fancy jets would fall out of sky in real combat but they have $ and saved our asses many times financially. Bangladesh however has nothing much to offer to Pakistan except headache to India that we can now pound them from the east as well.

@LeonBlack08

If your analysis above is correct, then I don't see BD bring much value to the Mecca alliance. It will end up like Italy in the two WWs- a drag upon its allied partners.

Regards

By that logic, many countries in NATO shouldn't be in the alliance either.

Every country has value if used appropriately. For instance Bangladesh is useless in aerial warfare given the state of our air force. But it offers value in areas such as maritime patrol/blockades etc. and can be deployed in those missions so that the stronger partners can deploy forces elsewhere. That's how modern day military alliances act. Allocation based on specialization.

Plus its not always about what you got right now on hand its about potential as well.

The Mecca pact needs to gain some teeth and bite, it needs to be taken seriously and that means forces of the 3 countries acting cohesively together. It means procuring arms and equipment of similar nature, they need a unified command control, logistics, intelligence, theater defence. There is so much to be done by the 3 founders.

Once a real fighting force is created a minimum criteria can be set to allow other brotherly muslim countries to meet the requirements and later join too. I dont personally think any countries should be added until Pak, SA, Turkiye address the points I mentioned.

No. Myanmar army has better hardware for conventional war.

Plus political willingness is not there to engage in an unnecessary war. For now, we are focused on counter insurgency ops in Chittagong Hill tracts and keeping Arakan Army out of our territory as best as possible
That CTG hill tracts Insurgency is long dead.

Hill people's favorite activities includes chadabaji, extortion & infighting among the terror groups, for which the regular law enforcement agencies are enough.

There are counter insurgency ops still ongoing. Burmese Arakan Army is very active in the bordering regions. The local Shanti Bahini insurgency is dead - now limited to extortion and drug dealing.

But you are right, instead of using Army like in the past, there is increased use of Battalion Ansar who are essentially paramilitary trained by army.

Just like your Abraham Accords, SAARC, BRICS and Quad?

None of them are a defense pact.

Defense pacts hold when a group of nations which share a common enemy come together and form an alliance, that whenever that common enemy will act against any one of them, they will all face the said enemy together.

Here we have Mecca defense pact where none of the nations have a common enemy.

If a war were to break out between India and Pakistan.
Tell us will Bangladesh risk getting nuked for Pakistan? Will Turkey or Saudi Arabia ?

On the other hand will Pakistan fight Israel for Turkey ? If Pakistanis didn't fight Israelis for Palestinians, why would they ever fight for Turkey.

Will Pakistan fight Iran for Saudi Arabia? We have seen this picture and know how it ends.

Will Saudi Arabia even shed a drop of Saudi blood for any of the nations in this pact, never in million years.

This defense pact is just attention seeking behavior.

Saudis are vying for US attention. Bangladeshis are vying for Indian attention.
Where as Pakistan and Turkey are in it to make money.

Turkey by selling its weapons and Pakistanis by receiving Saudi handouts.

Indians was demand complete boycott of Turkiye when we helped Pakistan in their latest war against India.
So, yes. We Turks would help without worry of "nukes"...

We Turks don't need Pakistan to deal with Israel.

Turkiye was always going to make money regardless.

There is absolutely no chance Bangladesh will be allowed to join Mecca Pact. You should however, have a functioning military to protect your country.

To fight a modern war just buy a few million fpv drones from China, dig some trenches and shoot In the direction of the Indians and u will be alright :)
This tactic works only when the enemy can't gain air superiority over our head...

There is absolutely no chance you are running the foreign ministry at any of three countries. So I wouldn't worry about it.

Why not? What am I missing here...

Some of our Pakistani 'brothers' has complex toward BD due to various reasons. Some might be racial, some might be historical. (1971 defeat and surrender to India-BD allied forces.)
