Unless wife making coffee at home I'm always black coffee. I also just ate Snickers worth 440 calories... and that will be the only solid all day until I maybe eat some jerkies at my hotel in Seattle 12+ hours later.
I don't eat much.

Why put sugar in your coffee at that point?

Can't tell you how many times I've seen people put 7 or 8 of those creamers in their coffee followed by enough sugar for 20 people.

There's a group of about 100 passengers..look mostly elderly.. who couldn't board in LAngeles and had to take three buses to finally board late night. One of them is a 91 year old. Inspiring lady. But I feel bad for them all..it was Amtrak fault.. they should be compensated!

At Portland OR station. 27 years ago I came here and my friend picked me up at this station which was the end point of my Empire Builder Amtrak trip. He still lives here but married and settled with kids. I just told him I am here. We were "young and wild and free" then! Haha

Crossed into Washington State from Oregon crossing the Columbia River. Amtrak staff describing various landmarks and historic sites. Didn't know Abraham Lincoln and Jefferson Davis butted heads before even the Civil War! (It was more friendly before the Civil War!)

Well well well.. about reaching Seattle! Maybe earlier than scheduled arrival. A long trip ending. Two easy nights ahead: tonight in a Seattle hotel and tomorrow at friends house in Canada. Then I don't know what next. But the old fears, the self doubts are gone. Will look into $ figures spent so far, budget to extend this or another trip. At the least not hopping on another long train in next two days. Maybe a cruise?!! May fly back to South Carolina for which I'll have to budget about $500. "Think Homer, think. Think! "

If you are feeling really adventurous maybe take Greyhound or some other bus back to South Carolina!
