Interesting, looks like PIA will go for both Airbus and Boeing?

Typical jaahil Patwari press release. What does the British Ambassador have to do with the commerical decisions of a European company like Airbus ? And what does the Commerce Minister of Pakistan have to do with the commerical decisions of a supposedly privatized company like PIA. These idiots cannot make up their minds about whether PIA has been privatised or not.

Even to the extent that it is owned by Fauj Inc, a NCO deputed to PIA has more influence than the Commerce minister of a puppet Form 47 "huqqumat".

A mix of new 737 and A321 is an ideal combination for pakistan for both local and international operations.

Ideal scenario for Pak would be 737 max 8 or A321 neo for high density within country operations and regional airports flights.
A321 neo, due to higher luggage bay, will also gives the option to increase per passenger luggage capacity for GCC (lets say by 10 kgs) and gain back "some" customers from the GCC carriers. Currently there is no incentive to opt back to PIA.

A321LR with a range reaching to 4000nm can fly around the year to most European (France, Norway, Italy, East Europe) most east African and almost all south east Asian countries from across the country.
However London, Manchester, edinburgh, paris, amsterdam, Tokyo and south Africa will only be accessible from Lahore, karachi, islamabad via A321XLR or 777.

For sure some great products on both sides, my preference would be A321 for shorter or less dense and the A350 for long haul, however I suspect we will see a split buy to keep Donald happy

My guess is 787s plus A321 neo

PIA has in recent years moved to A320 for its short-haul fleet, and A320s are doing a good job for smaller/regional routes to mideast, or within the country. The old B737 were phased out and replaced with economical and widely used A320.

For widebody longhauls, PIA used to have the B747 and A310s, which were phased out and the Boeing B777 fleet did that work nicely.

For easier pilot transitions, it would make sense to go for B787 for widebodies and perhaps stay with Airbus A320/A321 for shorthauls, and they can easily go for A350 for longhaul in future......

This makes sense and it would also be useful when PIA aircraft are at foreign airports so getting spare parts and/or quick technical repair would be very easy.

Due to recent financial issues for a long long time, alot of sisterships have been cannibalized for parts and alot of A320 and B777 are either write-offs or in long term storage.......this is the big problem when u have to eat your own fleet for spare parts and engines bcaz u can't afford to buy any new ones.

Looks like 787s will be in PIA service very soon

Seems like these airframes were previously in IndiGo usage and have an avg. age of 7 to 9 years. Hopefully this can be the start of PIA's transition towards a newer and more modern fleet. 🤞🏽

The avg. age of PIA's 777 fleet is ~20 yrs.
