First Sohail Afridi published a 7 point draft - that you can find in any newspaper.

1. Regular PM - Opposition meetings - this is a valid demand depending upon frequency - supported by me.

2. A committee including the PPP - also VERY VALID - supported wholeheartedly by me

3. The Jail and medical rights for IK - this was reasonable until the version in which the party picks the hospital and the party’s doctors run the treatment. That collides with prison custody and with a Supreme Court process that is still open. It is a legal dispute, not an instant denial of care. His sister, a doctor, was at the PIMS exam and said he was fit, blood pressure 120/80.

4. Meetings with family, nominated lawyers and authorized people, under jail rules, and not to be used for anything the law already forbids. Valid. I support it.

5. Petitions and appeals, including those of women, elderly and sick prisoners, taken up within 10 days where legally possible - these two words are important. -The executive cannot order a court to finish a case in 10 days, and it cannot order a release a court has not granted. Reasonable to ask that cases be listed but impossible to guarantee the outcome. To suggest the Faujis can guarantee it also ignores their own internal agency maintenance.

Then what the PTI negotiators actually did in the room actually contradicted what they published in the draft. Raja is ON RECORD - any operations in KP had to be agreed between the federal and KP governments(that is OK) and framed in consultation with the parties in the KP Assembly(Maybe unless you want PTM members with TTP links also there) and then tribal elders(Also an opsec risk).

Then, they went further into total idiocy - they asked for guarantees that operations that would not expose civilians to death, property loss or displacement. . The TTP’s method is to live, move and fight inside civilian populations. No government, and no army, can promise zero civilian casualties or zero displacement and still conduct a counter-insurgency... Find ANY EXAMPLE IN HISTORY where this has worked? NONE.

This exact process was tried already well before PTI with all these other parties in Swat and it fell through.

Imran Khan is no longer in control of his party - you have mixed PTM/TTP elements from FATA reps - more saner elements that represent old PTI and somewhat new PTI... and Sohail Afridi who now is ambitious enough and goaded enough to want to take over as PTI or rather Independent KP movement.

The faujeets and patwaris may be idiots in their own rights destroying the country, but this PTI movement is also taking all its cultists for a ride.

And who removed the saner elements of the PTI?

That logic is plain cop out of "I cannot hear criticism"
Political oppression does not mean a party ends overnight.
PTI had ample support and as was witnessed by the establishment suppressing a majority vote for it via semantics and legal pressures - the party supporters(not leadership) are spread across KP, Punjab and Karachi.

That does not mean that a key leadership replacement wasn't already in play - initiated by the electable move and accelerated by IK's egoistic measures while in power - then cemented post establishment picking up many of the moderate and educated leaders/figures/ workers during 2022.

But the cancer in PTI was always there - nurtured both by IK himself and also through the establishment's own "midas hand" cancer when it gave support from 2014-5 onwards.

I think it is good for PTI. Their police reforms backfired, and people elected a CM who cannot even protect its ministers. So why bother if the govt was sidelined by the emergency?

Perhaps it will also end the debate over what Pashtuns can and cannot do. Their houses are getting raided, like in Punjab and AJK (the Balochistan example is worse). At least it will reveal KPK's mantle

PTI needs to show their power or sideline themselves, the same applies to Imran Khan, when the people of Pakistan couldnt care less, why is he still doing zidd. According to the ruling elite, they have succesfully dismantled PTI. PTI has the majority in KPK Assembly, as alleged millions of Pashtun support, we will see, by the way PTI was hugging Fazlur Rehman, watch how he changes sides.
