Iran - Israel/US War: Israel-US declare war on Iran, Iran responds

Oh I believe before or even when voting starts is a definite possibility but I’m 50/50 before Israel’s elections unless the Iranians take the bait the Israelis are trying to give them with those planes flying near Irans border night

I know it sounds weak that Iran does not pre emptively strike US even though they know attack is upcoming

I think maybe Rus/China is giving Iran advice to play the victim role so that western population opinions remain positive about Iran

Plus pre emptively striking US bases or hard targets is not going to do much damage unless Iran wants to escalate and cut internet cables and hit oil infrastructure

If Iran wipes out the energy infrastructure in the region and collapses many countries, it should have a very good reason and that is indeed if Iran gets attacked first and not by an preemptive attack from Iranian side. The world will understand Irans reaction and public opinion will not be against Iran, but against the enemies of Iran.

Pakistan and Türkiye are independent sovereign states that will do what is in their national interests. This is not Pakistan and Türkiye's fight, this is Iran's. Iran choice to resist(whatever that means to Iran). To equate countries following their interests, as Iran's follows it's own Iran's own (!) as being lapdogs of the USA is quite inappropriate.

Why should the economies, the people of either Pakistan and Türkiye suffer the consequences ire because of the decisions Iran makes? (Equally, why should Pakistan and Türkiye suffer the decision that the USA makes). Everyone is trying their best to make the best decisions to navigate this shitty scenario that neither Pakistan and Türkiye planned for or wanted...
To be honest Pakistan isn't doing great even now, topping the charts in terrorism, poverty. The wish to align with this US, nominating Trump for Noble, is more of a personal need of the current ruling elite. Nothing to do with Pakistan's interests.

A preemptive attack is a tactical win, but being the victim of an umprovoked attack is a strategic win.

I get this eery feeling that this next round of fighting, if heavy, will be a disaster for one side, and it will not look that way initially.

I'm very worried the US military doesn't realize this "mission" its about to go on might seal the fate of the empire it serves.

This war is about to go(and most likely end) REALLY BADLY for one of the warring parties. Just my strong gut feel.

Iran has won the war, it's only the Americans that don't realise it yet. So far America has lost 20 US bases, dozens or so Aircraft, all their allies both in the Gulf and abroad. Financially it's costing them between $1b and $2b a day to continue this war. How long will the American tax payer be happy to keep paying? How long will they be happy paying increased prices for fuel? Also, what did America expect to gain from this war?

US will need to lift sanctions on Russia to sustain this war because Iran will ensure that oil and gas infrastructure across the GCC, particularly in Saudi Arabia, is destroyed. Rebuilding such infrastructure from scratch could take 15–20 years.

This crisis is unlikely to end anytime soon, and only possible way to prevent global oil and gas supplies from being further disrupted would be to lift sanctions on Russia and allow its energy exports to help stabilise global markets.

At this very moment, Azerbaijan and Iraq are being run by two absolute lowlives. Iran knows exactly how to handle such a pathetic handful of losers when the time comes, and we’ll make sure they face the music for their actions. As for Azerbaijan, we have a 'settlement' waiting for them that’s nothing less than pulling them away from the Soviet legacy for good. Regarding Iraq, let’s just say it’s headed to become one of Iran’s closest buddies eventually.

But when it comes to Yemen and those brothers—who, let’s be honest, are in a league of their own and always have been—if those Western hyenas try to play games, we’ll make the European winter so brutal that they'll find the streets more welcoming than their own living rooms. They’ve got plenty of trees to provide firewood, so they’d better keep their wits about them and have their axes ready.

And the funniest part? Trump—a man who can't even trust himself—is out here playing errand boy, trying to win over the Russians and feed the West's energy hunger through this sanctioned nation. Poor, miserable Europe is stuck in an energy crisis, yet they’re out there barking like lost puppies at Trump, praying for a scrap of mercy. They’re completely clueless that the script for Europe hasn't changed one bit; the puppet masters behind the scenes are ready to toss these idiots into the meat grinder, just like the sacrificial lambs they were in the World Wars.

If Iran destroys the oil and gas infrastructure across the GCC countries, the entire world could face one of the worst recessions in history.

US needs to act fast because switching to Russian oil supplies isn't as simple as flipping a switch. Entire supply chains, shipping arrangements, insurance coverage and trade agreements would need to be established or reconfigured, and that takes time. Waiting until the crisis escalates further could make the economic consequences far worse.

Your economic forecast is quite the dramatic masterpiece, but let’s bring it back to reality.

First of all, don't mistake silence for inaction. The 'punishment' for the PGCC countries is already a foregone conclusion. While they pretend to lead, their complicity in ignoring the atrocities in Gaza, the starvation in Yemen, and the absolute chaos they allowed in Libya and Syria has already cost them their moral standing. They’ve essentially chosen to align with the architects of instability, and they will pay the price for that choice—economically or otherwise.

As for your obsession with Russian oil, that's a cute theory. If Russia can somehow keep its own energy infrastructure from being turned into scrap metal by Ukrainian drones, then maybe they can manage a bit of market pivoting. It’s not as impossible as your 'flipping a switch' analogy suggests for a nation that's already mastered playing the energy card.

And regarding the West? Please. You talk about 'recession' and 'supply chains' as if those are new threats. The script written for Europe hasn't changed, and it never will. The global powers have already decided that Europe is the ultimate sacrificial lamb. While you're busy worrying about insurance coverage and shipping arrangements, the elites are already preparing to throw the European masses into the economic meat grinder. They’ll be too busy shivering in the dark and fighting over scraps to even notice they’ve been sold out.

Economic consequences? They’ve been living through a slow-motion collapse for years. They're just too distracted by the bark of the master to realize the house is already on fire.

Iran can't take the 'bait' because there's nothing a first strike will achieve for them. If it could achieve something they'd consider it. It's also not being fooled by the reports and I wouldn't agree that if an attack happens it was successful 'pysops'. They cannot defend their airspace and are heavily exposed in this manner so they're likely to come under attack first.

What gets me is why agree to stop targeting oil tankers? The visit by Lavrov and others was to ask them to stop doing that leading up to mid terms even though it gives them a strategic advantage. Them agreeing to host those leaders means they already agreed to stop.

I think it's too late for IR to go up escalation ladder and they're in trouble for foreseeable future. The window to go up escalation ladder closed and it's now like a slow death for the regime being executed in phases that the region and global economy can bear.
Iran is fundamentally inconsistent with its own designs, shifting its own goalposts repeatedly.

If Iran was willing to simply abandon Hezbollah and the Lebanese all along, which seems to now be the case as not a squawk has come from them regarding a response to the raids in southern Lebanon, then why make such a case for that in the original MoU?

Of course, it is highly probable that the goalposts are routinely being shifted due to recalculations on what is and what is no longer realistically attainable. Original goals were perhaps simply unrealistic.

Russian and Venezuelan oil could replace oil supplies from GCC countries, but doing so would not be easy. It would require rapidly establishing the entire supply chain, including transportation, shipping, insurance and refining infrastructure.

This needs to happen before Iran escalates further and launches a major campaign against oil and gas infrastructure across the GCC.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reported fires aboard several oil tankers in the region around the Strait of Hormuz.

Four tankers were attacked while transferring oil to other vessels and three other ships struck mines overnight, the IRGC said in a statement on Thursday.
