I am Polish, which makes it all the more painful that a fellow countryman of mine ruined the RDF. We had a great international group there.

Welcome to the forum. Poles have a great connection with the Pakistani Air Force. The Poles literally created the Pakistani Air Force from scratch. Many Poles might not even know this.

Polish pilots and engineers played a foundational, instrumental role in establishing and building the early Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

Following independence and the partition of British India in 1947, the newly formed Royal Pakistan Air Force (RPAF) faced an acute shortage of experienced personnel, equipment, and training facilities. Because post-WWII Poland had fallen under Communist rule, many Polish veterans who had flown with the Royal Air Force (RAF) in Britain could not return home safely.

Led by Wing Commander (later Air Commodore) Władysław Turowicz, a group of around 30 Polish officers, technical staff, and pilots arrived to help establish the nascent force:

Training & Academy Setup: They revitalized instruction at the PAF Academy in Risalpur and set up essential technical training centers in Karachi.

Leadership & Operations: Turowicz rose through the ranks to become Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Maintenance), while Polish pilots trained the first generation of Pakistani fighter pilots and ground crews.

Lasting Legacy: Turowicz later went on to head SUPARCO, playing a crucial role in the origins of Pakistan's space and rocket program alongside his wife, Zofia, who trained young cadets in gliding and taught mathematics.

The contribution of the Polish officers is widely commemorated in Pakistani military history. Key figures like Turowicz were awarded national honors such as the Sitara-e-Pakistan, granted honorary citizenship, and honored with monuments at the PAF Museum in Karachi.

We need to have more Poles on this forum.

Hello Arrow,

Garry emailed me today telling me that you were interested in recovering the forum and getting it back up and running.

not sure on what progress or discussion has already taken place but i am willing to help as best I can.

I have come up with the following plan.

1. Recover as much as we can from July 6th 2026, this is the final archive,
we will use several different methods as I am expecting no single attempt to be perfect due to how forum boards are different to static websites.

2. Choose a suitable open source forum software so previous issues to not happen.
3. Host in either Ireland or Sweden or Panama to avoid any big brother interference.
4. Re create sub forums as before and start allowing registrations
5. Get a team of 3-5 of us to restore the recovered content in archived mode.

are you at a more advanced stage or do you want my help

I personally lack the expertise for this kind of thing. I would, however, like to help in some way—perhaps I could talk to some friends; maybe one of them has experience in this area. As it stands, I’m not sure what I could do myself.

I can do most of the tech stuff and get it going but really need 2-3 of you to moderate it and help till Garry has more spare time.
Am pretty sure I could have a new forum in a safe location setup by Monday and then I can restore the old content as blog posts but inserted into the sub forums.

I’m interested. The question is, what would I need to do? There are several other regular RDF users here on the forum—Biggazza, Taddei, Rodion, Backman, and so on. You could send them a private message, or perhaps they’ll see this thread. Garry mentioned that he’s managed to recover contact information for some of the users; we could reach out to those who were most active on RDF. I think many people would be willing to help. This is crucial, too, because a forum is defined by its people—its regular users. Without them, there is no RDF.

yes that is correct, no point in restoring it if no one cares to use it.
I am currently recovering the whole site but it will take 48 hours or so.
I can do most of the tech stuff myself.

the only thing I will need help with is getting the old content posted into the correct sub forums after we decide how we wish to do it. the easiest way to convert the old threads to blog style posts and then paste them into a the sub forums.

Sure, I’m in, and I think a few other regular users of the RDF forum are too. There are some here, so hopefully they’ll chime in on this thread. We all miss RDF. There are probably also quite a few regular users who don’t even know what happened or that there are plans to bring it back.

Ill try to get the new domain name and hosting sorted tomorrow.

I think but cant be sure , I can run a script that looks at the posters name and creates a username for the user at the same time, so we might be able to retain post counts etc.

i been trying to find garry b for a few weeks and i posted a thread on the defence hub, i think talking about making a new thread on here when the known person that had it shut down is on here is a receipe for disaster as they will end up getting it nuked yet again i think its funny this problematic person is trying to push for another forum to be made, if a new forum was made it should be private so the person at hand cant return.
i had read through the thread and from what i gather at no time had anyone on the forum ever said THEY was gonna commit genoicde or Murder people all the talk is or was is their opinion and at no time did i ever think that anyone was trying to commit murder or genocide and i also read that the person who started up all the shit would deliberatley start up conflict and post comments to stir up other uses and then they would remove their comments showing them enagaing and baiting of people. this person is quite simply A TROLL i know exactly the persons movtive as i used to troll when i was much younger and id do exactly what they wanted and the best thing you can do to these trolls is ignore them and pretend they dont exist as thats one way to really get to them and make them vanish cause as soon as you respond to them you are feeding their fire and they wont stop..

i think id be very waering publically discussing getting the forum up and running cause the person who had it nuked is on here and you will evitably be feeding them info so they can do the exact same thing again, yous should be talking it over in a dm or somewhere private. cause if you went down that track and restarted the forum then you will be up shit creek yet again dont play into the person hands they are a troll that feeds on your anger.

The possible deletion reasons are as following :

• Harmful and dangerous acts

• Spam
• Phishing and/ or malware website

i was literally there just hours before they nuked it i had made numerous attemtps to have the site recovered via onlinguardian but it fell upon deaf ears, they need to host it in a country that has not many restrictions and you can freely speak your opinion with-out consequences, it seems to me there is no such thing as free speech now some asshole will see it as hate speech or some other shit and try to bring you down, im old fashioned and i think if you dont like something so be it you can have your say and talk about it being shit, i was reading the entire thread about all this nonsense and not at once di i think anyone on the server was in breach of any laws as all they was doing is speaking out aloud and it was their personal opinions, if i was garry b id not even start another page up as its too risky now. id be very surprised if Garry would even make another site as i recall him saying he took over running of the place. and these tos garbage..... yeah its all a load of shit. but yeah you need to find a forum that is based in a country where you can have freedom of speech and you can talk openly without fear of the page getting shut down or some person making up False claims... if anything this individual could be up shit creek and in serious trouble as they are defaming and making up false accusations and thats big shit in some countries.if you was to run a forum youd possibly have to be quite harsh and do a country ban of certain countries so the people cant join.

when i got on the next day to see the site was gone that really pissed me off, all that time people took to contribute was all down the f*cking drain still quite annoyed that it had been shut down and the stupid asshole admin of the forumnotion decided to take the easy way out and just ban... complete utter useless admin person cant do their job proper tyipcal zoomer mentality. im gonna probably get banned from this forum for what i think about this whole mess but yeah that person has no life and is a common troll and i can bet you he is a fraud in real life scamming some poor person as most of these people do that exact thing.
