It would seem that the Russians are making moves in Africa, shortly after a coup in Niger, the military cooperation with France and the US was cancelled, the French were kicked out, and as of now there is pressure to close the $100 mill US base. Niger is demanding all US troops leave. And has brought in Wagner and Russian Troops in. This story isn't getting as much attention as the Iran Israel drama or the Ukrainian conflict, but there is a battle for Africa, most specifically the Sahel going on between different parties.

Russia apparently recently deployed troops to niger along with a S-300 allegedly.

The Russian Federation shipped air defense systems to Niger, accompanied by approximately 100 Russian military instructors. It is considered that the systems in question may be S-300.

According to Niger state television; Military trainers, personnel and air defense systems sent by Russia have arrived in the country. State television shared footage of a Russian Ilyushin-76 plane landing at Niamey airport on Wednesday.

Speaking to state television, a Russian instructor said that they came to Niger to improve military cooperation between the two countries and train the army. Although there is no information about the air defense systems shipped to Niger, it is considered that the S-300 Long Range Air Defense Missile System may be among the systems mentioned.

Shortly after the military coup in July 2023, Niger terminated the military cooperation agreement with France and deported France's Ambassador to Niamey, Sylvain Itte.

The Niamey administration terminated the military cooperation agreement with the USA, which has approximately 1,000 military and UAV bases in Niger, in March.

Really does Russia need Niger uranium?

Or they are making troubles to France just for pleasure.

This seems like a bigger move than just making trouble for France.

There is also a $100 million US drone base that is crucial to the US strategy in Sahel and Africa.

plus there are strategic interests of Russian in Africa.

But basically, from abroad point of view: Niger = Uranium.

Security problems I bet it was artificially made by France to have justification to their movements. But the final target is .. Uranium.

For Russia? Russia has Uranium, I don't think its as needed for them as France, I think there is something bigger here, namely Russia trying to establish a presence in Africa, and dislodge the French and US.

Yeah, that was I said in the first message of this thread.

Russia doesnt need Niger Uranium.

France needs Uranium with emergency. Their main source of electricity is nuclear plants.

So it seems Russia is taking revenge against France, due to France involvement in Ukraine war.

I think both are idiots, and they should cooperate instead fight.

Its not simply about blocking France from Uranium, France can get Uranium from elsewhere, they already went to sign an agreement with Kazakhstan.

Niger has more value than simply Uranium denial for France or getting access to Uranium, its about establishing a presence in Africa, Russia has expanded a presence in Libya with Haftar, Sudan with Hemeti, Mali, Burkina Faso, etc. There is a bigger play here.

Kazakhstan is not under Russia influence?

If Russia would want, they could do pressure over Kazakhstan.

Next is kick France out of minerals rich Senegal , one by one kick these bastards outta Africa

Then they will just go to Namibia, or somewhere else. Even Australia.

Somewhere else means causing troubles to the current customers of Namibia, Australia Uranium.

Buy uranium for a whole country nuclear plants is not like buy a pair of sneakers in Amazon.

And Uranium extraction peak maybe has already reached.

Remember: Nuclear plants is the main source of electric energy for France. Uranium is not optional for France.

There is a whole lot of Uranium in the ground brother, this is a commodity. If Niger and others arent selling Uranium to France, they are selling to someone else. If they are selling to someone else, that someone else if not buying from somewhere else, meaning there is excess supply from france to buy.

The production can also increase with the right investment.

Trust me, there is something bigger at play in Africa, the Uranium is not the only issue. Russia is trying to build a presence in places that don't have Uranium as well.

All raw materials have a peak of extraction.

It's not so easy extract Uranium today than decades ago, it's a fact.

And every time it will be less profitable.

(Money you get extracting) - (Money you invest extracting) must be > 0

I think we're in a critical point of a lot of raw materials and energy resources.

The king of all is oil.

The solution: Decrease population where more raw materials and energy are consumed, e.g: Ukraine war extended to whole Europe.

In the meantime France uranium dependence can be used by someone with Uranium to convert France in their little b!tch.

Macron is very pro NATO since Niger mayhem, talking about sending troops to Ukraine.

France has always hated NATO and Transatlanticism, and looked to undermine it at any step, its called Gaullism.

Macron is looking for an angle to prop up France. He wants to supplant the US in Europe, and is trying to lead the initiate with Ukraine as an excuse.

Anyways As long as Uranium production is consistent and increases with demand that is also steady, the Uranium will find its way to France one way or another. You cannot magically have surplus in one area and a deficit in another without it evening out eventually. Unless Niger is also dropping production and export, which it isnt.
