It isn't wholly inaccurate, there are people who have spelt their name this variant way, but it is a slur in context. The context being that Sanghis have been consistently using this mis-spelling of Mohandas Gandhi's name to mock him, sort of to say that he is so obscure that they don't know how to spell his name.

From mocking Mohandas Gandhi to mocking Indira Gandhi, Rajive Gandhi, and now Rahul Gandhi was just a step.

For practical purposes, using this spelling will attract attention, inquisition and punishment. Don't do it.

You purposely and delicately skirted the main issue.

You know it.

I know it.

Sharma ji sure as hell knows it.

Every sanghi here knows it.

All of India knows it.

Most of the Pakistani oldies here know it too.

But we will all act wide eyed nadaan as if butter wont melt.

Fine, but I'm not exactly pushing an agenda here. That last line made for seriously disheartening reading.. given the genesis of this forum.. *clears throat

Do you mean the British and generally foreign mistake in spelling? Why not just spell it out?

Whatever it is, using Ghandy will be taken to be of bad intentions.

I wonder if you are hinting at the names used by some of our former Tata czars.

Them taking on the Gandhi name (spelling) for acceptance and political mileage.

Character assassination.

On the other side, work on Sonia's youth as a pretty Italian waitress. Her Christian faith. How Rahul and Priyanka are closet Christians (with bastard Muslim blood admixed).

Should I go on? Its all very colorful.

Are we talking at that level here? I actually know relatives of Feroze Gandhi. I am sure you do too. Is this being hinted at? Seriously?

As for taking the Gandhi name for mileage, everyone knows that Gandhi and Ghandy and Gandhi were common names among the Parsis. Russi Baba's boss was Sir Jehangir Ghandy.

Sonia Gandhi's family are known in the north Italian area that she comes from; the family is prominent and exists.

Doc, I'm sorry, but I can't take this seriously. This is too much like Sambit Patra. If anybody talks this language, I shall go and apply for a perma-ban.

Nothing wrong with that, except that they have achieved nothing. But that is debatable, so continue to hold to that view, with no problems. I hope you have nothing to do with the queasy stuff Doc just mentioned. Anyone who even hints at it gets immediate and serious attention.
