America is an island, protected and isolated by oceans.

Russia is part of the majority land mass of historical strife.

The table will likely never be reversed.

But Russia (post their brief foray in Cuba) does not need to.

Cheers, Doc

>Russia is part of the majority land mass of historical strife.

>The table will likely never be reversed.

Do you not see the contradiction in this statement?

Your own comment proves my assessment correct. Russia had an unstable population, with unstable borders, facing multiple insurgencies by ethnic groups that want nothing to do with Russia.

This war had just acceleration Russia's inevitable disintegration.

You missed the part about "Russia does not need to".

Does the US (NATO) really need to keep pushing its eastward spread and station its nukes progressively closer to Moscow?

Not really.

But they are.

The Russians have realised with this war that they are in a death roll with the West.

Do you think they are going to back off now or after Putin?

I personally think no.

Cheers, Doc

News flash, nato nukes are already on Russian borders.

Your "Russia does not need to" doesn't matter, because it's not up to Russia. This is out of Russia'a control.

If the west didn't exist, Russia would still be on a death toll, simply because of Russia geography and history. It's entire existence is based upon expansion or destruction. If it isn't expanding, it will be face collapse.

Drop in the bucket. Russia built 200,000 tanks and APC in the 1970s and 1980s during Cold War.

I said closer to Moscow.

Nukes in a NATO Ukraine would be closer to Moscow.

The Russians will ensure what they need to for their future generations. The fighting dies not stop till that is guaranteed.

And those guarantees will this time not be premised on Western promises.

The war is not done. We will have to see who comes out stronger from it. And which side more depleted.

There WILL be a Round 3. Of that I am certain.

Further territory. And consolidation. When you are in a death roll, your only chance at survival and then winning is to remain locked on.

Cheers, Doc

Icbms exist

Your point is absolutely worthless.

Nothing will be decided by Russia, they've sown their own fate.

The fact that the war isn't over is itself a heavy loss for Russia. They've proven themselves to be a paper tiger, unable to defeat a significantly weaker nation in so long.

You're making a bunch of points that are nonsensical in nature.

There is a thing called flight time and intercept window.

I'm debating with a juvenile here.

Russians always suffer heavy losses in the wars they participate in and this is not the first time.

It is similar to the Russian-Swedish war, winter war or WW2

However, the final winner is still Russia.

Russia's biggest advantage is that it is willing to endure heavier losses than its enemies and persevere to the end to win.

Agreed. Russia has 4 times the population of Ukraine. Ukraine will run out of men before Russia runs out of men. Russia still has 100 million people left even if every Ukrainian is dead.

Russians suffered horrible losses when Napoleon invaded Russia but in the end Napoleon's army was destroyed.

Looks like Russia's newly launched reconnaissance satellites are picking up 227 mm HIMARS from their heat signatures when they shoot and that's how they are locating the 227 mm HIMARS. The 227 mm HIMARS was subsequently attacked by cluster munition fired from 300 mm HIMARS.

The problem for Russia right now - is that it has not formally declared "war" as Russia is not at threat. It is a "special" military population and that fact, restricts what and how much Russia can do in Ukraine. It cannot go full tilt as that would undermine the original logic of the war.

So - yes - Russia has been prepared to pay the price to "ensure" victory, but it has only been able to do that when Russia is at "war". Right now, they are not, and that is limiting Russia's ability right now and causing more losses than it should as it tries to maintain that is a "special" military operation, and not a "war of occupation and expansionism" ...
