Putin himself said Russia wanted to create a buffer zone. That’s bullshit. I am not from military. But here the things. Ukraine army said the russians had amassed about 50,000 for the assault on Kharkiv. Then another 50,000 russians on the north, so in total 100,000 men. That’s more than Ukraine defense force on the sector. If just the numbers matter the russians can move in.

the first goal of russians seems is to capture enough grounds, then moving the artillery closer to Kharkiv in the second phase. The third phase is the frontal assault on Kharkiv. the Russian attack follows classic pincer movements. Just the heroic resistance of Ukraine army plus the western military supplies stopped the russian offensive.

The position of the troop between Kharkiv and Sumy suggested that is a grant assault, and the lack of activities in other front also suggested this is not a diversion operation. This is more like an attack into Northern Ukraine trying to divide the line and attack into Kupiansk from another direction (again, you need to take Kupiansk to take Donbas, otherwise it basically no chance for them to just work up from the south) but have to launch early since US is once again supplying Ukraine with weapon

The issue is the "Buffer Zone" concept was basically null by US allowing Ukraine to strike within 200 miles (or KM? I don't remember) because it would be well enough for Ukraine to use all sort of US Weaponry (Base bleed round/M30 MLRS/ATACAM) from even Kharkiv City, that specifically was designed to targeting the Belgorod supply base, which mean it's now going to be harder to mass troop/equipment for Russian in Belgorod, and that no doubt (if they have enough munition) would saturate that front and forcing the entire battle South. Kharkiv front is gone, and it's never going to be back (again, assume Ukraine have enough munition) Which is going to force the effort south, which mean whatever Russian loss in the Kharkiv campaign is basically wasted. They aren't going to be able (if ever again) to attack from that direction, and they didn't exploit elsewhere enough to warrant this offensive.

Expect more of this from the Russians, they know the Ukrainians are beginning to struggle for numbers, they are beginning to pull in some real old timers and then all that's left would be the youth of Ukraine

They are stocking up with weapon and munition and there is going to be an anticipated 2025 offensive for them.
