Maldives has shoot itself in his foot.... India is already a hot tourist destination but I think it purposely didn't develop tourism related facilities in lakshdweep much in order to let Maldives have monopoly in that region and prosper as this is the only source of income for this country.....

As a peaceful and brotherly neighbor India keeps doing such gestures for her neighbors but idiot new president decided to hurt India to please China forgetting China is thousands of miles away but your neighbor will always be an India.....

Anyways after goa, kerala, maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, kashmir, UK, sikkim , Andaman and nicobar islands India will have another hot tourist destination which will boost the economy of this archipelago state.....

If that is what makes sense to you, do it, and watch what happens. "Can be" is not "will be". And no, replacing with western tourist require action on western tourist front. Why will they preferably come to one specific group of islands in middle of nowhere? IF what you are saying was correct, resorts in Maldives would be booking western tourists preferably. No one likes to leave money on the table.

Besides, India is not even playing hard-ball here -- which it can very well. Its just some Indian Individuals on twitter reacting. There has not been one single word about Maldives from the government side in India.

The lies spread by Muizzu were rather very weird. He claimed there were 1000s of Indian soldiers in Maldives building bases. Now in power he has not been able to find those 1000s.

It is not Ahsaan Faramoshi because it is not a Ahsaan. What we pay is bribes so they do not put a Chinese base on one of their islands. We have paid and so far they have delivered.

Maldives are in a very strategic location as far as India is concerned. The rise of China is creating complications for us and we need to be very careful we do not lose the hold we have over our neighbors. We may be giants in front of our neighbors, but there is a bigger giant whose power we may increase with our behavior. In the next decade, we have to be very careful about how we treat our neighbors. We have to use our brains and not just react with our hearts. thande dimaag se kaam lo nahi to lene ke dene pad sakte hain.

Our diplomats are very capable of handling delicate relations. We should let them do their and not complicate things for them by raising the temperatures. So relax and let them do their job, otherwise we will definitely lose our base there. Our base is more important than our feeling of Ahsaan Faramoshi.

Bro, India dont bribe the elites in any country neither India fund unviable projects in any country. Be it African countries, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh. India does those projects only, which really bring something good to the people of that country.

There are numerous example of that, most bright one is funding by India in Afghanistan.

For some weird reason, they were obssessed with Modi while ignoring their own internal issues of corruption. For that matter, I have never seen any foreign leader's image been used as an election prop in India. Surely it was funded by China alright, but seeds were very much with in Maldives.

To be honest, Maldives are not really poor nation. Its pretty well to do. Not rich but pretty well to do and certainly better than India.

When you sow so much hate, it will show! It showed in their officials.
