Asim Munir is COAS for life that's for sure. If it's for 1 year or 10 years who knows. Nobody knows exact time of their departure. Asim has done immense crimes against the nation, he will never feel secure by retiring and giving up power. His survival is by sticking with the COAS position for life.

Cantonments were residences of Colonial britishers. Those were specifically placed near cities or within cities to keep control over civil population. Before partition there was no border / LOC. So, naturally cantonments were not designed to protect Pakistan. Those were obviously designed to assert rule on locals.

After Partition these cantonments ( symbol of colonial rule) should have been abandoned. New military bases should have been made with respect to new border. Military must never be stationed within cities. When they live within the cities, then all rules must apply equally to them. A SHO should be able to do raid on a maj general house and arrest him if he is wanted in any case. When military lives within cities, they consider them above law and their interest is all in city businesses and real-estate instead of their primary job that is to protect borders. The cantonments should have been auctioned to civil real estate and merged completely under civil administration.

Instead progressing, Pakistan has gone so backwards in just last 2 years. A Duffer is installed in every organisation and civil supremacy is suppressed completely. Will of people is suppressed completely. A complete overhaul is required. Pakistan needs to get free from this military junta which is sucking it dry.
