I'm a kattar atheist and religious bigotry or affiliation doesn't bother me at all. A "Live and let live" kind of guy. People who froth at their mouths are merely amusement for me.

Researching & exploring knowledge on human history & various past civilization is an excellent trait. I myself am quite keen on it, although my inquisitiveness had developed fairly recently. Study of human & civilizational history is quite fascinating and can teach us what not to do in future. I even enjoy a healthy, decent debate every now & then on various theories of human history, e.g., AIT vs OOI types (See P.S.).

However, I am not one to cling onto history, hopelessly wishing that what passed us by will be re-created someday. Human history & civilization had been & will be extremely dynamic. Now more so, with all these technological advancements in lats 150-200 years. I even believe that the concept of nation states will soon get pretty diluted with a lot of global mixing of ethnicities. Say in about 100 years down the line, the concept of visa & passports will not be there anymore in most nations. Perhaps it will remain only for Earth & Mars' inhabitants.

P.S.: I am a strong believer of some form of AIT, as the current evidence, scientific & linguistic, strongly supports it, while OOI backers, so far, has only put forward jingoism & propaganda whenever I discuss it with them.

I did read your post. Thanks for your clarification.

I simply tagged all Hindu guys I knew to make them listen to Avestan, properly intoned.

If these discussions do not interest you, I will not tag you on future similar posts of mine.

Cheers, Doc

THAT is why a healthy debate is not possible. Not with one side having a set of decaying brains.

Whole universe operates on vibration, frequencies. Aligning with those frequencies do wonders, hence the proper vocalization is the key. Majority of pandit priests now a days have no idea.

The Indian Ocean in world history

by Alpers, Edward A

Before the effing Portuguese rounded the Cape of Good Hope, from Zanzibar to Malacca (and actually beyond, into Indo-China and China proper), there was a common market, with free trade, with bills of exchange, with no visas or visa fees, with no restrictions besides port fees, and whatever internal tolls or duties were imposed, before goods reached any trading point, port or inland.

We aren't going forward and progressing, we are actually trying to painfully lift ourselves back to a situation that the EU has had several hernias achieving over centuries.

Dont know about pandits, but among Parsis, Priests with a beautiful rhythmic singsong style of chanting are hugely sought after for private prayers. Either foe the departed during rhe last 10 days of Muktad (before Navroz) or for private Jashans at home and definitely for Lagans and Navjotes. The others make up the mandatory chorus numbers.

None of our priests (except the really old ones in charge of the fure temples) are full rime. They are all working professionals with full rime day jobs, who you invite ro orat for you. And who usually are attached as a body of priests to a particular fire temple. On call when needed.

During high throughput periods if the year, big cities like Bombay and Poona import priests from rhe hinterland.

Fir 20-30 minutes if prayer, a family would give a Dastur a small paper envelope with 300-500 rupees in it. Usually for 3-4 Dasturs who sit in. At different places in the Fire Temple, performing different rituals. This would be in addition to the money you pay the fire temple (proper receipt given, with cist head breakup) for the prayers, material, sandalwood, fruits, maleedo (halwa), etc given back to the family after the prayers as Chasni. This includes money fir everyone in the fure temple, from the priests to the cleaners to the maintenance boi (fund) to the chasni walla (in charge of fruits, flowers, maleedo, etc as well as scheduling if prayers in a well oiled conveyor belt ).

This usually goes into a few thousands.

Cheers, Doc
