Bangladesh: Analyzing Hasina era Adani Power Deal

They have a track record to maintain.......

I think this is Modi telling Adani that the power needs to be routed to Indian consumers as the project has been very controversial and politically costly for Modi.

In effect Indians were kicked off their land to generate power for BD'shis while at the same time they get the pollution as well.

If Adani unilaterally terminates its end of the contract, BD won't care and will probably be relieved.

Roopur nuclear with its huge 2.4GW capacity will come online next year. In the meantime any shortfall can be made up with buying coal for Matabari power plant that has similar capacity(1.2GW).

Strange decision from Adani.

My guess is that they probably want to cancel and resolve this issue.

Adani deal raised eyebrows in India as well. Many within Indian left have accused Adani deal to be corrupt and brokered by Modi. With Hasina now gone, the chances of the details of how the deal went down coming out in any court proceeding may hurt both Adani and Modi. This is why it is better for them to terminate on their own. And Bangladesh on the other hand would also like that as it saves them time and money going through the legal process.

Again just my own theory.

I think the same thing and without Hasina, Modi does not want to bear the controversy over this anymore.

Win-win for both India and BD. (y)

Fiancial loss for Adani as the deal was very lucrative but I am sure that Modi will make it up to him another way.

Contested in what manner ? Less units of electricity reached to BD, line loss ? Didn't like current pricing/ or any surge charge. He should speak clearly.

Don't worry about the wording as BD was willing to pay every last dollar to Adani that it owed.

Anyway with the demand for every single dollar to be paid within a week it seems that India-Adani wants to cancel the contract. Of course BD would pay all outstanding debt that it owes.

Adani also needs one less controversy. The Hindenburg short reports has hurt him quite a bit.

There must be an arbitration clause in the Contract

Adani will drag Bangladesh to Arbitration Court

For what gain?

BD was paying both the current supplies and also paying back some of the debt, if only slowly and so it would take around another 12-18 months to pay it all back.

No court would rule in favour of Adani and say BD must pay immediately.

The demand to settle everything within a week is the giveaway that India-Adani maybe wants to walk out of the contract for reasons known only to them.

Good. We want that. We want to know how both the Hasina regime and Adani came to the agreement on coal pricing which is significantly above market rate. Adani got Hasina to buy and import coal from its Australian plant, despite cheaper alternatives being available. We would like to see all these facts come out and then use it to pursue corruption cases against both Adani and Hasina.

Any random nobody can accuse established businesses when no-one is asking the proof.

Indian investors kicked out Hindenburg's second report out of the stocks. They can't shoot in blind and expect it to stick.

Can you show what is the market rate which you are getting and what's the Adani offering ?

Arbitration cases depends on the Contracts signed

Here there was a Sovereign Guarantee by BD Government

Given the reputation of Adani - I doubt it.

It will be a field day to highlight all of Adani’s crookedness in front of international media and financial markets.

Like the crooked way he manipulates the share price to raise money from Indian retail investors lol
