It is strange that a man who is not a Jew has a fascination with another faith's temple. It is also disconcerting that he belongs to a church that believes in "Young Earth creationism". I wish our high officials are more rational than such gobbledygook.

My theory is the free 'marketplace of ideas' in the religious sphere creates competition to create more and more outlandish beliefs. That results in specialty groups who focus on a narrow obscure issue instead of main faith tradition. Till 1970's, there was no widespread pro-life vs. pro-choice politics. Abortion was considered a private moral and medical issue. Then it suddenly burst out for the next 50 years into center of politics. This high bandwidth given to evangelical beliefs was not mainstream till the 1980's. Now, the most scientifically successful nation can have a cabinet officer who believes earth is 6,000 years old. I would have laughed at it if someone had told me that when I was 6 years old. We just launched a telescope 3 years back to take pictures of early universe 13 billion years back!

Europeans are in some kind of historic paralytic mode. Unable to think that the Cold War ended over three decades ago. Unable to think that the North Atlantic Alliance, while barely serving short term interests now, is out dated. Unable to think that the chaos in their underbelly--the MENA region--only benefits the war mongers in Washington. Unable to think that the refugees from their underbelly have no where to go but to Europe. Unable to think that they too, like the Chinese, are a target of the American Neo Cons' manipulation of the Middle Eastern oil. Unable to think that the blowing up of the pipelines from Russia to Germany only benefited the Neo Cons in America but to the detriment of Europe.

Europe is just a 'jutting peninsula' of Asia, as the guy in my profile pic said a century and half ago. Europe should try to belong where it belongs!

Just see a sovereign smart empire like USA, avoiding troubles in his neighborhood.
Last USA military adventure in America continent was Panama war in the 90s.
They learned the lesson, and they avoid touch their continent. They even tolerate Venezuela communism.
Make troubles to neighbors in a longterm is always a damage for the attacker itself.

That's how USA achieves "allies" do suicidal stupid things.
The hope is: Only a few powerful people in European states are the corrupt, the rest middle-ranking are just deceived by USA lies.

By the other side another way of make a state do whatever USA wants is make that state dependent of USA for energy supply.

It's already happened with natural gas supply to Europe: Nordstream blasts, and sanctions to Russia.
And it also happened when France lost recently the control of Niger uranium supply (main source of electric energy for USA are nuclear plants, and they were highly dependent of Niger uranium).
Macron changed attitude towards NATO after that.
