Pakistan will not retaliate but if Iran repeats this then Iran will have to face heavy consequences. Iran will loose alot, they already have bad relations with GCC arabs, Usa and Israel looking for excuses to attack Iran and Iran is suddenly firing ballistic missiles at neighbouring nations. The militant problem is in most Muslim countries, foreign secret services are sponsoring them to make the muslims fight.

The purpose of the Iranian strike by the "decision makers" is to make the water "warmer" for the USA to attack Iran directly now. India on the behalf of Israel may well have convinced Iran that they can do the strike and Pakistan will not respond back.

Had Iran hit the American building in Iraq, then what would have been the consequences ?

Whatever Pakistan decides to do next, will decide Irans future with regards to its faceoff with USA.

The message is that Pakistan can attack Iran, so why can't the USA ...

As decisions go - not a good one by Iran and one that will hurt them strategically at several levels.

Pakistan also looks silly - really silly - even if they respond with a military operation. The fact that Iran thought it could attack Pakistan shows how far down Pakistan has fallen in the region since the military takeover by the Army.

With Iran, there's no reason to escalate. In fact, the Balochi separatists are enemies of both countries, so I don't see why they don't work closer against these organizations. It seems that both countries will tackle them on their home soil, but allow them to attack each other. Completely pointless strategy.

Great point, why not form 20,000 joint security force and secure the border, take actions against militants 100km inside both borders, dont let them breath, it will benefit both nations.

Are you saying that life of civilians doesn't matter? I believe Pak will take action and Pak should. And please do something against this zainabun brigade. Hit enemy first and clear our own house later.
 
Looks like strike will happen!

"A senior Pakistani security official, speaking to the Associated Press on condition of anonymity as he was not authorised to talk to reporters, told the news agency Iran had shared no information with Pakistan prior to the strike inside its borders. Iran appears to have been targeting the Jaish al-Adl group.

The security official said Pakistan reserved the right to respond at a time and place of the country’s choosing and such a strike would be measured and in line with public expectations.

“The dangerous precedent set by Iran is destabilizing and has reciprocal implications,” the official said.

Jan Achakzai, a spokesperson for Pakistan’s Balochistan province, also condemned the attack. “Pakistan has always sought cooperation from all the countries of region – including Iran – to combat terrorism.”

“This is unacceptable and Pakistan has a right to respond to any aggression committed against its sovereignty.”

However, Pakistan is now in a dilemma after this Iranian strike deep in Baluchistan. It is total embarrassment for its military. Firstly its embarrassing that Pakistan air defence / air force could not intercept the drones & missiles at its airspace. Same thing had happened with accidentally firing of Indian missile some time back. Wonder, if Pakistan even have this capability to intercept. But most importantly, if Pakistan do not respond then it will make a new normal for any country to pound Pakistan. This is complete humiliation for Pakistan's armed forces.

Pakistan Military and Gov are not responsible Iran is so impulsive,., they did the same mistake hitting the Ukraine aeroplane in 2020 killing all the passengers after America had killed khasim Sulaiman.

Pakistan has no air defence system in this part of the world. Hopefully been updated now of Tehran stupidity

I tell you what is embarrassing PAF operation swift resort exposed indian air defense system was on high alert, as in - actually paid heed to Pakistani warnings that it would retaliate. And we did 2 planes shot they were just outsmarted.

If you honestly thinking Pakistan does not face daily terror attackers from Afghanistan's, Iran & India. It should be a requirement to do your own research, easy with Google before making comments. Inflammatory and ignorant comments.
 
Just wanted to say that this was the expected step when Pakistan tolerated India launching missile at our territory in 2019. In 2019, the IAF airbases used shd have been attacked ( even if the missiles were intercepted it didn’t matter , intent does ) . Now Iran knows they can get away with launching missiles and killing children . It’s really sad . Nuclear weapons and you have all sort of assorted countries attacking with impunity .

And the home media is awesome BTW. They are blaming PTI for this, lol.

I’d be very much surprised if Pakistan does not respond.

From a strategic perspective, Pakistan staying silent would give pretext to other countries to strike Pakistan and operate within the realms of conventional war without fear of escalation towards nuclear war. (Swift retort happened to restore this balance)

From a tactical perspective, knowing Iranians will be ready for a retaliation, how would Pakistan respond?
