But the system has already replaced anyone who could do so.
Alas this effort will fail because those leading the effort are also insincere/ stupid or both.
Stupid is more likely than insincere. Sincerity depends on the target audience, each party has its own in mind. I think beyond a certain size , the protest movement can take up a life of its own, leaderless almost, like Tahrir Square, so it won’t matter as much the intellect of the leaders. Remember how “simple” Lech Walesca was.
For far too long the army has cultivated its own “approved” politicians and are surprised when these politicians actually want to govern. Until IK, most of these politicians were brought back into the fold, as if democracy was a game and time was not a valuable resource to be squandered.
With most it was insincerity not stupid, with the most prime example among the bunch being Zardari. By contrast, IK isn’t the smartest politician, but he is very sincere and that gives him people power, which he is leveraging to put the weight of an underserved public to hold a mirror to the system.
If most of the people had been truly well educated, been able to continue in decent jobs and had clean air/water and cheap and plentiful food, and peace and security, they wouldn’t be willing to go to the streets as readily.
Let’s see how strong people hold, I suspect only fatal force will only dislodge many of the protesters as Mohsin Naqvi threatens, but then there will still be some that will remain, especially amongst the Pathans that know drone strikes will return to their home regions unless they get IK back into power. So they are fighting in Islamabad so their co-ethnics don’t have to mourn again in KPK.
