I agree, I have become extremely critical of the role that UAE plays. Criticizing regimes is fair game (as long as it is sensible and as long as you use arguments, I do it all the time, many Arabs do it), but insulting half a billion Arabs as a collective or equaling Arab regimes and Arabs is completely moronic to begin with. At the complete cluelessness about Arabs, modern-day Arab history (let alone ancient), Islamic history etc. and outright lies and it becomes toxic and useless.

As for the oil embargo, the US, unlike in the 1970's, is self-sufficient when it comes to oil and gas due to the large shale oil and gas production in the US in recent decades. Actually very little of the Arab oil and gas is exported to the West. Most to Asia and elsewhere.

When I searched this topic I found that even the prime minister of Pakistan Imran Khan thought that this was correct.

Reagan used that quote to refer to Nicaraguan Contras who were fighting to overthrow communist dictatorship of Sandinistas.
