Fighter jets are sitting ducks when parked in airbases, they could remain intact if and only if in the air. And no, they are not junk. Upgraded Mig29, upgraded SU24 and T72 tanks are not garbages either.

Syria is in state of chaos post-Assad removal. I don't know what the SAA soldiers in and around the Golan Heights were doing? Or the rebels that replaced them? None of those two fought against each other in South Syria from what I understand. Also I read that Russian soldiers left their bases to Israel without fight as well. This is not a surprise as Israel and Russia have close historical ties since the USSR (Jews played a huge role in that failed project).

Unfortunately Syrians cannot do much now and even if the SAA was intact, they are/would be sitting ducks against the IDF next door. They simply have much more superior technology and are backed 100% by USA/NATO/WEST. It is the most unfair fight in history. It is cowardly.

Remember, the incompetent Al-Assad regime already lost the Golan Heights to Israel 50 years ago. They never fought to regain it. For 20 + years they accepted Israeli attacks on them too. The Israelis even destroyed their attempts at a nuclear program and chemical weapons program.
