Syrian Civil War and The future of Syria after liberation

I hope the new Syrian government systematically capture, imprison and put all Assadists on trial who were directly involved in massacre of Sunnis. Whole Latakia needs to be searched thoroughly to find such people.

Forgiveness is good but some crimes are unforgivable and the punishment is the only way to achieve law and order.
"Massacre of Sunnis"🤣🤣🤣 prey to Allah to give you a brain!!!

I don't know how serious the Syrian opposition is about fighting Israel. But it is clear that Israel takes this threat seriously, because Israel continues to attack Syrian weapons depots and violate its borders. And I think that in the long run, HTS and its leaders will be eliminated by the US and Israel themselves.
Because both US and Israel knows very well that only Sunnis are their enemy and the rest just jump up and down like monkeys but do no damage.

Syria's former ruling party suspends work and activities until further notice

From CNN’s Kareem El Damanhoury

Syria’s Baath Party said it is suspending its work and activities until further notice, according to a statement published on the party’s media outlet on Wednesday.

The former ruling party, which had been led by the Assad family for decades, said that all its property, funds and weapons are to be handed to Syrian government bodies.

“Vehicles and weapons that were in the possession of the comrades are to be handed to the Ministry of Interior or the nearest police unit or station,” the statement said. “All the party’s property and funds will be placed under the supervision of the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Justice, and its proceeds are to be deposited in the Central Syrian Bank.”

The decision comes days after former Syrian President Bashar al-Assad fled the country following a lightning offensive by rebel forces.

Assad became Syria’s leader in 2000 in an unopposed election following the death of his father, Hafez al-Assad, who had led the Baath Party since seizing power in 1970.

German state television DW: The departure of Syrian doctors from Germany, estimated at 6,000 people, will constitute a serious threat and a collapse in the medical sector in the country.

Syria as a whole do not have the capability to fight Israel after 13 years of civil war. Just like Iraq did not have such capability in say 2017, after 14 years of war and conflict.
Syria couldn't fight Israel with full support from Egypt and Jordan...

Israel seizing on Syria chaos to strike military assets

Israeli troops have taken up positions on Mt Hermon, also known as Jabal al-Sheikh
After launching hundreds of air strikes on Syrian military assets and seizing positions including the summit of a mountain with an uninterrupted sightline to the capital Damascus, Israel appears to be taking advantage of what it sees as a unique moment of opportunity.

Syrian command structures were in disarray, with key positions apparently left unmanned after the fall of the Assad regime.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) says its air force and navy have conducted more than 350 strikes since Saturday night, taking out an estimated 70-80% of Syrian strategic military assets from Damascus to Latakia.

They included fighter aircraft, radar and air defence sites, and naval ships, as well as weapons stockpiles, the IDF said.

"The navy operated last night to destroy the Syrian fleet with great success," said Defence Minister Israel Katz.

The IDF has also moved ground forces east from the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights into a demilitarised buffer zone in Syria and, it now admits, just beyond.

Katz said he had told the military to "establish a sterile defence zone free of weapons and terrorist threats in southern Syria, without a permanent Israeli presence".

One Israeli commentator said the past 72 hours had "stood out even for people who thought they had already seen everything".

"It didn't strip the Syrian military of specific capabilities only - it sent it back to the starting line, bereft of any significant strategic capabilities," wrote Yoav Limor in the Israel Hayom newspaper.

"The IDF operation to destroy Syria's military capabilities is the largest it has ever undertaken," commented Udi Etzion on the Walla news site.

The IDF said it had carried out more than 350 air strikes on Syria in the space of two days

Former Israeli Air Force officers commented in online posts that some of the attacks carried out as part of this operation were based on plans drawn years ago.

One military analyst said that some targets were already identified by Israel in the mid-1970s.

Meanwhile, troops have taken control of positions in the Golan, including the top of Mt Hermon, according to Israeli media. In Arabic, the mountain is known as Jabal al-Sheikh.

"The territory guarantees strategic control over the whole southern Syrian arena, which generates an immediate threat to Israel," the Ynet news website quoted Kobi Michael, a researcher at Israel's Institute for National Security Studies (INSS), as saying. "There is no higher vantage point than the Syrian part of the Golan."

Saudi Arabia has already started to cooperate significantly with China in developing its ballistic missile force in recent years

Correct. This cooperation began already 35 years ago and is very deep.

It is covered in depth on Arab Defense forum (the main Arabic defense forum out there) and from what I have seen also on Chinese military forums.

USA constantly pressures KSA to "leave" China, so far to no avail. This is a very good example of why countries should be pursuing their own interests full stop regardless of old partnerships or pressure.

The US would not/could not support/sell/help build up what KSA wanted so China stepped in.

Similarly KSA will likely pursue F-35 from Trump but if he won't sell, KSA will look for alternatives.

Simple geopolitics.

why is saudi still not officially joining BRICS?

Because to be honest it is a completely useless organization. Even though KSA was accepted, I think the leadership thought that they would await and see what this coffee club develops into.

KSA is not officially allied to any bloc like say Turkey (NATO). Hence the cordial ties with the West, China, Japan, South Korea, Russia (main OPEC partner) etc. Sure, the US is the most important partner and a historic one since the time of Roosevelt but it is not an official ally. I don't even think that KSA has some kind of official "ally" status like the likes of UAE and Qatar.

The US for instance was willing to sell the F-35 to UAE, not heard talk of it being the case to KSA. Probably because there was huge mistrust and disagreements with Obama and Biden administrations. Trump was better in this regard as he was pragmatic and not stupid like the other ones..

why is saudi still not officially joining BRICS?
Because of US pressure. But they are still quietly consulting with the group constantly. The Saudi elites are very tied to the US financially so it is very hard for them to extricate themselves that’s just a fact.

Oman and the Emirates, but they are monarchies. But I get what you're saying.

They are still dictatorships.

Even with all their oil riches, they still do not allow any political dissent and public calls for a republic.

It is interesting that some say the Syrian people did not want Assad - no what they and the SAA did not want anymore is to live in penury due to the western and Arab sanctions on Syria and the stealing of Syria's oil by US/Kurds.

As they say "a soldier cannot fight on an empty stomach".

Syria and Israel fought against each other in the Middle East Wars of 1948, 1967 and 1973 and formally regard each other as enemy states.

Under Bashar al-Assad, Syria was a significant regional military power. Israel had attacked it in recent years in hundreds of strikes that were rarely openly acknowledged. Israel's calculation included a sphere of deniability for itself but also for Assad so he would not feel forced to respond.

These had focused on preventing transfer of weapons to Hezbollah, as the main transport route was overland from Syria to Lebanon, arms manufacturing, and Syrian air defence systems, which posed a threat to Israeli warplanes sent on missions.

Israel avoided major attacks that could have led to wider war and sought to avoid conflict with Russia, after it became Assad's biggest supporter in recent years.

Some defence analysts suggest that Israel wanted to avoid weakening the Syrian regime for fear of triggering the chaos that could follow if its opponents seized power. Over the years, Israel and Syria - under its secular, Baathist regime - stuck to well-defined red lines; it was a known adversary.

But the speedy advance of the Islamist group Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) prompted a hastily developed new Israeli strategy.

Every accusation Ben Shapiro makes on behalf of Israel is a confession.

He is right that Syria is an artificial creation but forgot to mention that its population is native to the land, unlike his beloved Zionist entity that is also an artificial creation but with 95% of its population imports from all over the world

A video clip from inside one of the tunnels that were previously used to store and launch ballistic missiles belonging to the Syrian army.. Syria has a wide network of tunnels fortified inside the mountains, for strategic weapons, which are distributed in different areas throughout the country, and it began working on their construction since the 1990s.

The missile force is one of the strategic military capabilities of the Syrian state, which did not suffer significant damage during the period of civil war that the country witnessed over the past years. Unfortunately, these capabilities have now become a major target for Israeli Air Force strikes.
