There was no strategic rationale, more domestic rationale. Iran wanted to divert domestic frustration and anger that was growing due to militant attacks. Hence, they attacked Syria, Iraq and Pakistan. The reason why they went ahead with Pakistan was probably because they were not expecting Pakistan to respond courtesy of Pakistan's 'appeasement' like policy of ignoring issues that crop along the western border. Note that in previous instances where projectiles that fell into Pakistan, Pak authorities would downplay and suppress the news. Heck any news that saw Iran in a negative light would conveniently be described as a 'neighboring country' as opposed to naming Iran itself. Hence, it is no wonder that Iran saw this weakness and thus based its actions off of this as well as other geopol reasons.

Iran seems kinda dumb. Pakistan is not Iraq& Syria. Iran is really out of control and nobody can do anything about it. Firstly they targeted Syria and Iraq and surprisingly targeted Pakistan. Indian Courts are no authority on Muslim religion, and more specifically on Pakistan, as you discussed Pakistani Soldiers and their Beards.

If you can see and read or in whatever way or form you can achieve enlightenment, Check the Sikh Soldiers in Indian Military and show me Without Turban, and Beard.
