Syria says will establish govt with all Syrian components​

DUBAI (Reuters): Syria’s foreign minister has told Saudi Arabian officials that the new leadership in Damascus wants to set up a government involving all parts of Syrian society following the overthrow of Bashar Al-Assad last month.

Minister Asaad Hassan Al-Shibani was making the first foreign trip by a member of Syria’s new administration as Western and regional powers seek signs on whether it will impose strict Islamic rule or show inclusivity in government.

Al-Shibani and Syria’s defense minister met with Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman in Riyadh on Thursday.

“Through our visit, we conveyed our national vision of establishing a government based on partnership and efficiency that includes all Syrian components, and working to launch an economic development plan that opens the way for investment, establishes strategic partnerships, and improves living and service conditions,” Al-Shibani said in a post on X.

Since ousting Assad on Dec. 8, extremist opposition forces led by Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) have sought to reassure Arab countries and the international community that they will govern on behalf of all Syrians and not export Islamist revolution.

HTS was al Qaeda’s Syrian affiliate until it broke off ties in 2016.

Saudi Arabia backed the opposition forces who fought Assad at the onset of the Syrian civil war.

Yes this is the 1974 line the Western line is called the Alpha line and the Eastern side is called the Bravo line

the area in between is the DMZ and and Syrians who lived between the lines need a special pass to enter the area and many people lived in that area and they are Syrians and Druze community including Christians

Syria says international flights to and from Damascus to resume from Jan 7​

Syria said on Saturday the country’s main airport in Damascus would resume international flights beginning next week after such commercial trips were halted following last month’s ouster of ex-president Bashar al-Assad.

“We announce we will start receiving international flights to and from Damascus International Airport from January 7,” state news agency SANA said, quoting Ashhad al-Salibi, who heads the General Authority of Civil Aviation and Air Transport.

“We reassure Arab and international airlines that we have begun the phase of rehabilitating the Aleppo and Damascus airports with our partners’ help so that they can welcome flights from all over the world,” he said.

International aid planes and foreign diplomatic delegations have already been landing in Syria. Domestic flights have also resumed.

On Thursday, Qatar Airways announced it would resume flights to the Syrian capital after nearly 13 years, beginning with three weekly flights on Tuesday.
