Who care who is the aggressor.
In a war it matters who is the winner, if you want to survive and you dont have suicidal tend.

And a non-nuclear armed state never can be the winner against a state with second biggest nuclear world arsenal.

What EU do have is a lot of money, their standard for poor is rich by the definition of Ukrainian or Russian, what EU is trying to do is to give Ukraine enough to contain Russia while they come up with a reform. As long as Russia is engaged in Ukraine, they cannot be otherwise engaging anywhere else, that mean they can buy times by supporting Ukrainian fight with Russia instead of having to face Russia themselves.

Send European troops as 'peacekeepers' is already decided, matter of months.
The less error will turn the proxy war into a direct EU/Russia war.

yeh I think, too. some money will go for the Turks. Europe can’t produce everything and it needs at least 5y to rebuild the armies.

the US about $1 trillion
Europe $500 billion
that’s $2 trillion a year

if adding other from Canada, Australia, Korea, Taiwan, etc we talking of $3 trillion a year arms market.

Agree with Kofman, loss of US military aid will be less felt at the front, and more in the long range strike and air defense capabilities in the medium term.

Ukraine achieved fires parity with Russia over the last 6 months as Ukraine has rapidly ramped its drone production and Western shell production has ramped.

Loss of HIMARS and Patriot capability will be felt over the medium term(6+ months) as those capabilities are currently irreplaceable. The US did front load those capabilities at the end of Biden’s term, so Ukraine should be fine for now, but in 6+ months it becomes a real problem.
