The escalation in violence will come as little surprise to anyone familiar with the history of India’s relations with Pakistan since their bloody partition following independence in 1947.

Defining 1947 as "partition" is actually quite harmful and misleading. It was the independence of 2 separate nations from a colonised subcontinent.

There is nothing that was owned by The Secular Republic of India that was "partitioned" (except for the erstwhile princely state of J&K of course, which is a distinct matter).

It is entirely a false narrative that is seized upon by Nehruvians and Bhakts alike, to suggest that "India was partitioned", and this is exploited by our enemy to the east to tacitly imply that the nation state of Pakistan somehow belonged to the nation state of India for even a second.

We did not gain independence from Delhi's rule. We gained it from the British, despite the protests of Delhi.
