yes- however it would be disingenuous to suggest that PAF training/tactics is not based off of the western ways

I will give credit to the Americans in the 50s for that but not the French. French can teach you to fly but they rarely train you on tactics. This is one of the reasons I am happy that IAF never went for an American platform.

Malaka I'm not an Indian to say that J-10 is garbage nor did I claim that Rafale is untouchable. Remember how they boasted about the Su-30 a few years ago? It was the superweapon. Then their new superweapon was Rafale. Then it was Tejas.
Every 10 years the Indians have a new superweapon.

It sure is very big stuff,like you said. We rarely have air-to-air combat anymore. We mostly have modern air forces bombing terrorists and militias. We also had 30 years of Greek and Turkish air forces in mock dogfights that sometimes unfortunately turned very real.

I wonder,didn't the French think of their reputation when they were selling the Rafale to the Indians? Yes,there was A LOT of money involved,they needed to boost sales,but look at this now. The IAF's bad record should have told them something.

The reality is- i dont think it was necessarily the sale of the rafale to India that was the issue- rather, the underestimation of Chinese equiptment.

For some reason- everyone tends to see the Chinese from the soviet angle, big bark, but no bite. Another F-15 vs MIG 25 saga.

The reality was, what me and many have been saying is, the Chinese defence industry had made serious gains as a result of their civilian sector and absorption of technology from ventures.

It was not the failure of the Rafale, rather, the failure of the training and tactics, but also, the serious under estimation of the capabilities of the PAF and also its equiptment. By every assessment, everyone has pinned the PAF as a top tier force in terms of trainings and standards, but everyone seems to think haha chinese plane crap

they probably feared ambush, but from what I understand the indian air force just don't have this level of technical and commanding capabilities...
