Going to have to disagree here. Having grown up in the late 50s through the race riots of the 60s into the early 70s, it was and very clearly still is the left who are the racists. They are just very very good at making the right out to be the racists. Yet, the facts state otherwise. Allow me to elaborate:

- The Southern Manifesto - this was a document signed by very prominent Southern Democrats that basically affirmed their commitment to segregation and Jim Crow laws. Prominent authors or signatory to the document: William Fulbright, Carl Vinson, Strom Thurmond, and Wilbur Mills.
- George Wallace - one of the biggest racists at the time.
- Civil Rights Act of 1964 - one of the opponents to this was Albert Gore Sr.
- The Ku Klux Klan - that was created by the Democrats shortly after the Civil War. Senator Robert Byrd from West Virginia, whom a number of buildings are named after him, was a Grand Kleagle of the KKK.
- Jim Crow Laws - creation of Southern Democrats
- Voting Rights Act of 1965 - was enacted as a result of on-going Southern Democrat discrimination against black voters.

I know this because I lived in this era. Everything the Democrats have done since then supposedly in protection of black Americans has had the exact opposite effect.

Now, that said, are there extremists on the right? Of course there are. I would be foolish to say otherwise. There is one such person here. Didn't take me long to figure that out.

But to say that a significant portion of racists in America align with the Republican party is simply ignorance without understanding the full context of race relations in this country.
The stock market was volatile today, fluctuating as usual in response to news from the White House and the Federal Reserve’s decision to keep interest rates unchanged. Despite this announcement, uncertainty remains regarding tariffs and their potential impact on the American economy.

Overall, it was a good day for me, as most of my stocks performed well--except for Alphabet, which dropped nearly 7.5%. This decline triggered the 5% stop-loss I had placed on it.

Now, let’s turn to the issue at hand.

I appreciate your insights, and I think it’s valuable to examine history from multiple angles. While the Democratic Party had a troubling past regarding segregation, however, it is important to recognize that political parties evolve over time, and the Democratic Party of today is not the same as it was in the 1960s. Similarly, the Republican Party has undergone significant changes. While Democrats historically supported segregation and Jim Crow laws, the party shifted toward civil rights in the 1960s, leading to a major political realignment.

President Kennedy proposed the Civil Rights Act in June 1963, despite opposition from many Southern Democrats. His administration pushed for desegregation and voting rights, but after his assassination, Lyndon B. Johnson took up the cause and worked to pass the bill. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 was signed into law by Johnson on July 2, 1964, with strong Republican support in Congress.

As you mentioned Strom Thurmond name, he was a staunch segregationist who firmly opposed civil rights. After the passage of the Civil Rights Act, Thurmond switched to the Republican Party in 1964, becoming one of the first major Southern Democrats to do so. His defection symbolized the beginning of the Southern Strategy, where Republicans sought to attract white Southern voters who felt alienated by the Democratic Party’s embrace of civil rights.

Thurmond played a key role in shifting the South toward Republican control, advocating for states’ rights, a term often used to resist federal civil rights enforcement. His move was followed by other Southern Democrats who gradually realigned with the Republican Party.

After the Civil Rights Act passed, many Southern Democrats felt alienated by their party’s embrace of civil rights. The Republican Party saw an opportunity to attract these voters through the Southern Strategy, which appealed to racial grievances without explicitly endorsing segregation. Richard Nixon and Barry Goldwater used this strategy to win over white Southern voters, leading to the South becoming a Republican stronghold over time.

According to research from Princeton University, nearly all of the Democratic Party’s losses in the South from 1958 to 1980 can be explained by white voters’ racially conservative views. The shift began in spring 1963, when Kennedy first proposed civil rights legislation, marking the moment when the Democratic Party became associated with racial equality. By the 1980s, most Southern states had flipped to Republican control.

Black Americans, who were the most affected by racism in the early 1960s, overwhelmingly support the Democratic Party, with more than 90 percent voting Democrat in most elections. Other minority groups that have historically faced discrimination also tend to support Democrats. Jewish Americans, another group historically targeted by racism, vote more than 60 percent Democrat. Indian Americans support Democrats at a rate of over 60 percent. Muslims and Buddhists also vote majority Democrat. Native Americans, who have faced centuries of discrimination and displacement, vote overwhelmingly Democrat, with more than 55 percent supporting Democratic candidates in recent elections.

This trend suggests that the groups most affected by racism and discrimination overwhelmingly support the Democratic Party, which has positioned itself as the party advocating for civil rights and social justice.

During the 2016 presidential election, many racists and white supremacists openly expressed support for Donald Trump. Notable examples include:

David Duke, former Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan.

Richard Spencer, leader of the alt-right movement.

Don Black, founder of the largest and the oldest white supremacist website Stormfront.

Andrew Anglin, founder of the neo-Nazi website The Daily Stormer.

Jared Taylor, white nationalist and founder of American Renaissance.

The Proud Boys, a far-right group known for violent street clashes.

Nick Fuentes, leader of the Groypers, an extremist White nationalist movement.

While Trump did not officially align himself with these figures, his campaign rhetoric, such as calling Mexican immigrants criminals, proposing a Muslim ban, and using dog-whistle politics, was seen by many as appealing to certain extremist elements.

Both parties have evolved, and neither is inherently racist today. However, as I mentioned previously, it is undeniable that most white supremacist and extremist groups now align with the Republican Party, even if the party itself does not officially endorse them.

Most notably, the South, which was once the racist hub of the Democratic Party, is now a Republican stronghold. The same states that once fought against civil rights under Democratic leadership now overwhelmingly vote Republican, demonstrating how the political landscape has shifted over time.

The U.S. Embassy in Stockholm requesting the City Planning Office to remove DEI programs—only for Vice Mayor to reject the demand, calling it "bizarre" and "completely absurd." Similar requests have reportedly been made to businesses in France, Belgium, Denmark, and Spain, sparking criticism from European governments. These demands appear to be part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to enforce anti-DEI policies worldwide.

I can’t believe it. How much more damage are we going to inflict on America’s reputation? As if trade wars and tariff disputes weren’t enough, now we’re dictating to sovereign nations--many of them close allies--how they should run their own governments.
