Sometimes People forget California was part of Mexico until around 1850. There is a reason a good chunk of California is named in Spanish.

These are Chicanos, they are US citizens, some of them that have roots in California much further back than the white settlers that came West.

The issue here is ICE agents, not from California, coming in to California and snatching people up. Its deeply unpopular in California, people don't agree with it, so they started protesting and confronting ICE, some of it turned violent.
