Biden was doing this to try to solve two issues.

1.)Skipping the I-601A
2.)Skipping the 5+ years wait

Bear in mind this scheme only offered to illegal who had stayed in US for over 10 years, married to a US Citizen and without criminal record

In effect, it's mean saving time, because thereare no barrier even if you don't have the 601a option as long as you wait outside the US it's not like once you were illegal then you can't apply for a K-Visa forever, unless you were a felon, which was not covered by Biden proposal anyway, so even without 601A, all that illegal need to do is wait, just instead of the 5+ years you are waiting 10+ years (Shorter if kids were involved) with the black listed time. A lot of which they were spent separated with their American love one.

It wouldn't surprise me if Trump admin tightens up the laws with the help of Congress. Anything which is not Constitutionally guaranteed can be changed by Congress without much fuss. There may be some grandfathering issues in some cases but nothing that can't be handled.

Any changes to existing laws won't have the support of Democrats in the Senate except maybe for Fetterman.

There will likely be some Republicans in both Houses who won't go along with it either.

ICE detained a US Marshal and tried to deport him. ICE is conducting warrantless searches. ICE is deporting citizens. ICE hit a car, shot it, and ran from the scene. ICE deported a US citizen child with cancer.

Ironically, Gascon started his career in law enforcement as an LAPD street cop. Not sure where he went off the rails but by the time he became CoP for the City of Mesa, AZ, he was pro-illegal. As DA in SFO, he was very liberal and got worse as LA County DA.

Good riddance to a bad DA who favored criminals over the safety of citizens.
